Hi im trying to make a basic RPG game on the PSX but i don't know of any sites that can help with playstation coding, or any forums etc... I tried googling it but thought maybe one of you guys might know a decent place to find out more information. The sites I found so far were pretty useless seems like Sony has shut down most of the tutorial sites etc...

Please help

Thanks

Wow i didnt know anyone actually bought one of the Yaroze's. Sorry i don't have any information for ya just thought that was an interesting topic 🙂

lol well i didn't exactly buy a yaroze, in fact from what i can tell the yaroze thing is a bit of a farce in some ways. All i use is a sharklink serial cable that plugs into my PC's com-port and works just fine with a standard Playstation *the older type with the serial port*. The Playstation has to be mod chipped mind you. But thats not exactly difficult.

My University has 2 Yaroze labs but the only discernible difference between my set up and theres is that there;s are black and mine is plane old grey.

Boy is it slow though, *on the Yaroze or the modded PSX* it takes ages to load a 500kb tim *image format for the playstation* file into the V-RAM. I think the real Playstation development kits are actually blue but they only got given to a very limited number of Sony sponsored devcos.

To be honest id prefer a Gamecube dev-kit but im stuck on ancient console hardware. Gotta start somewhere though :-D

Oh and if your interested, Metroworks do a version of codewarrior that lets you compile to the playstation from your comport usin the serial cable. 🙂

I still haven't worked out how to run exe's of a CD yet which means painfully slow load times 🙁
