is there a way to play ps2 games on a pc? without the gaming system... seems like you should have more power to play them on a pc.. is there an emulator or something...? thanks for the help in advance

no. why would u want to play them on a PC anyways? Most of the better PS2 games are better designed for console play. and the ps2's are only $150 right now and I am sure that you can get a modded one for $200.

Well I don't know for PS2, but in case you haven't heard there was a program called Bleem for PS1.
Maybe there's a version for PS2 available.

"Seems like you should have more power to play them on PC".
True, but you have greater OS overhead, and hardware that wasn't mean to play it.
The PS2 may not have as good specs as your average PC< but its games were designed to work the best they could with the specs, and are probably going to be heavily optimised for the PS2 hardware.

When Bleem! was around, the PC's it was used on at the time were't really that much better thna playing the games on the console IIRC. Same with the N64 emulator that was around.
It's probably not worth it either, as any emulator will be buggy, another reason why the PC's power would be wasted, bad coding on the emulators part.

I have not heard of any emulators being able to do more than simply displaying a screen or two, maybe less than that, on a very fast pc, over 3ghz.

No there isn't a working ps2 emulator working for pc. However, there is a ps2 project that is work in progress. Goto http://www.ngemu.com for all the info. Just a guess, but it will be another 6-18month before they have a working ps2 emulator.

Xbox emu can play turok properly, the best ps2 emu (pcsx2) can only play super bust a move (graphics are still messed up) and can display the title screens of many retail games, but that's it for now. There's also a semi-working GC emu out there, forget the name

Anyway, I think the N64 and the PS1 are the latest consoles that can be emulated "very well" at this point.

You're right, coding for console emulation is considered the most difficult sort !
You would be better served with console hacking and HDD gizmo.
