How can I make a backup playstation cd using my CD recorder? And without using a mod chip. Is there a software that I can download to make a backup copies of a games?.

CloneCD should work fine from my understanding. It is also my understanding that you have to have a mod chip. I've never done this personally I just know some people that have. You may want to look at this site.

The very earliest PSX consoles released were able to pull a switcheroo, you boot with a real game and hurry up and pop it out and replace with a burned one. but it is a VERy small number of consoles out there. I bought an external parallel mod, the MP3 DJ, which allows for playing burned backups, as well as cd's full of .mp3 files. http://www.chipzone.com is where i got it from.

I do this Regularly, and the setup I use works Flawlessly!! First thing i do when i buy a Game is back it up, and hide it away, (because my roomate and i are bad at taking care of the games!!). You Need a 1:1 Copying Program, ie; Clone CD, and a Compatible CD Burner (I have 2 cheap Memorex CRW-1622 IDE's) and A standard Game Enhancer, or Game Shark which can be found a K-Mart or Wal-Mart, and a Spring (which usually comes with the Enhancer. you can e-mail me if you want to know more!!
Lickily i'm blessed w/ an older Playstation that halts for 3 Seconds upon boot, so the Game Enhancer isn't really needed!! (lucky me)

Nero can also make backups of PSX games... although you have to mess with some settings...

yup, agree with BCYL, i use nero to back up my ps games! before that i use adaptec software and always got fail to back up

I use Nero Burning Rom too, and you can use an adapter, like a goldfinger that will go in the serial port in the rear of your ps. The newer PS's dont have this port and also periodically Sony will put stuff in the game that can tell if the system has a chip in it too. I have burned a lot of em tho.
