Title says it all. My local CompUSA (Brentwood, TN) had 5 or 6 PS2's in stock. They're selling 'em at the retail price of $299. You may want to give your local store a call.

I still think the DC is a better deal. Games/accessories are cheaper, and for the $200 price difference, you can get a better DVD player then the one included in the ps2. And you can play online with the DC...the modem looks a little ways off for the ps2.

DC is well worth the money. PS2 is overrated. I am probably the 100th person to say this. Stick to DC for now then get PS2 when it drops its retail price.

Glad to see the prices for PS2 are down near to retail on egay (although you do see some for 400$?!). You know 75% of the people who got ps2's the first day or so probably egayed them!

they are still making plenty fo games for it.i would rather have the "defunct" dc than a ps2 anyday.
I am waiting for the XBox, I have a DC right now to tide me over until then. My roomate has a PS2 and the games get old after awhile. The graphics are good and the dvd player is decent, but it isn't worth $300.

Although the dreamcast console is no longer being manufactured it is still being sold and there are over 40 games still in development. And thats not mentioning all the great games that currently are available. I'm no console loyalist.. I've always had several systems and I find religious hardware loyalists to be irrational. Follow the games! I fully intend to buy a Playstation 2 but I don't think its worth the effort or the money right now. Although Onimusha might change my mind. I'm in the same position I was in when the dreamcast came out.. not really any games for that system that I want to play so I won't buy it yet.
Final Fantasy X is going to have to come out for PS2 before I become a whore for that console. Until then, I'm perfectly happy with my $50 Dreamcast, especially considering ALL the good games for it are at $20 now.

Although I have never bought a Sega system (except Game Gear), I would rather go with the Dreamcast over the PS2. Dreamcast is dirt cheap (and hehehe, you can burn almost all the games AS BACKUPS!!!). PS2 is overrated... think my bro is picking one up... so I guess I'll hook the house up with a DC and backup all the games from my friends.
