Playstation 2 Question

What is the USB port on playstation 2 for ?
Is it for playing games with others online ?
I looked at the manual but it didn't really say much.

I just got my friend a logitech driving force for that grand turism 3, and it's usb interfaced.. so for controller like those..

I've heard that you can use a USB mouse and maybe a keyboard too. I don't know for sure, I don't use the PS2.

With Tony Hawk 3 and a usb network card, you can play multiplayer on the PS2

I was just wondering myself since Armored Core 2 Another Age lists USB mouse support on the case

Guess I will have to plug one in and see what it's used for (I hope it's not just for the emblem editor)
