$50? Was it a wireless one?

Either way, sounds like a great deal. What store, if I may ask?

3 Awesome games have just been released, or will be released by the end of the month for PS2.

1. Kindom Hearts (playing it now)
2. Tekken 4
3. GTA: Vice City

Be sure to check out the BIG LIST - Xbox Deals thread in AT's Hot Deals forum.
[/shameless plug]

Visuals and sound options are far and away better on Xbox.
Backward compatibility w/ PS1 games is a killer feature of PS2.
IMHO, online options (PS2 Network Adapter vs. Xbox Live) will be the make or break feature after Nov. 15.
MS finally wised up and will include the "S" controller standard now.
The announced Sega bundle is a good strategy for MS heading into the holiday season.
If Sony counters with a price cut...then MS' offering won't look as strong.

BTW...The only games I would buy a PS2 to play:
SOCOM
Gran Turismo 3
Twisted Metal: Black

The free DVD player kit rebate is offered by Microsoft, and it should be good no matter where you buy the xbox.

I vote Xbox, and I have one :) The reason I bought it is because the graphics are superior to anything else out, at the moment. Also, the built in harddrive means an end to those annoying storage modules, unless you want portability of game files to your friend's house. PS2 is going to offer an external hard drive, but I bet it's damn expensive. Plainly, the Xbox has more features up front without the need for add-on's. The Xbox does not have as many available titles because it's newer, but it should be obvious that Microsoft is going to publish as many titles as it can get its hands on to compete with Sony and Nintendo. As for current games, Halo and Morrowind are two good places to start. I cannot wait for Xbox Live on Nov. 15, console gaming with broadband is going to rock :)

The only Playstation 2 game I ever hear people talking about is Grand Theft Auto. Now that it's available on the PC, I see no reason why anyone would buy a PS2.

The X-Box has all the best games like Morrowind, Halo, Splinter Cell, Fable, Unreal Tournament 2003, etc. That, and every single conversion on the X-Box has been vastly superior to PS2 and Gamecube counterparts.

Oh yeah, and the regular X-Box controller feels fine to me. It's solid, durable, and has a good layout of buttons. I can't even imagine playing Halo with that cheap, junky PS2 controller (which is one step removed from the original PSX's controller that debuted a decade ago, ugghhhh...).

I guess you've never heard of the best driving game ever made, Gran Turismo 3. Or (imho) the best fighter, Tekken 4. How about Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts for the RPG fan? There are plenty of reasons to buy a PS2. It's an excellent console.

I'll give you Halo. But Morrowind and UT2003 are much better on the PC.

Splinter Cell isn't out yet... Who knows really how good it will be.

Fable? Never heard of it.

Btw, You knocked GTA3 because it's on the PC. But so is three of the four games you just mentioned.
That, and every single conversion on the X-Box has been vastly superior to PS2 and Gamecube counterparts.
Apparently, you haven't been following the NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 reviews...

Speed on the Xbox is not the same game as its excellent PS2 counterpart. It doesn't look as good, it doesn't play as well, and it definitely doesn't feel as fast.
And let's not forget the fact that you can't play Xbox Madden online, but you can the PS2 version.

Controllers are very subjective... But you'd find yourself in the vast minority if you feel the original Xbox controller is better than the "-S" version or PS2's Dual Shock.

Like I said in a previous post... Flat-out saying that one console is better than the other is an uneducated statement.

Bah, go to IGN and check the reviews, you can sort by rating. PS2 has about 45 games that rank over 9/10. XBox has about 14.

Thats tremendous for being out 11 months. PS2 has been out 2 years now. How many did ps2 have in 11 months ?

Lets see all the 9/10 games that came out in the first 11 months of the ps2's release (oct 00-sept 01)

Gran Turismo 3 A-spec Racing
Twisted Metal: Black Action
ICO Adventure
NBA Street
SSX
Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil
Madden NFL 2002
NHL 2002 Sports Buy Now 9.2
Red Faction
FIFA 2001
Madden NFL 2001
NCAA Football 2002

I guess you've never heard of the best driving game ever made, Gran Turismo 3.

Project Gotham Racing is so much better than GT3. They are not even in the same league.
