Ok, was just presuming you to be a !Sony fanboy cause of your remarks
X-Box had not proven itself either, have not seen any test results from them so far. X-Box is $50 more expensive than PS2 (I think?) and to play DVDs you still need to buy a remote control for about $25, so the $100 for changes to your PS2 is not as big as people make it out to be. Besides, for those who can't play online anyway it means they don't have to spend the extra cash, and in fact save $75.
P.S. I do not own any console, never have, and don't plan on getting one. Perfectly happy with my PC. The latest X-Box games cost 69.99 Euros here ($66.17), so it's a tiny bit too expensive to my taste.
Actually I'm not anti-anything. I was fully prepared to buy a playstation 2 whenever Metal Gear Solid 2 came out, but I lost my job and I couldn't justify spending $300 when I didn't have any income. Now with the price drop I was debating between the PS2 and a Gamecube, but since the gamecube was cheaper and had Resident Evil 0, Rogue Squadron, and the upcoming Metroid Prime, Zelda, and Super Mario Brothers it was a no brainer. Those are the games I wanted to play so I went with the gamecube. I got in on the Playstation + 10 games = $100 off a new console deal at Electronics Boutique so I picked I my gamecube for $50 and it was worth every penny.
I'm still going to buy the PS2 someday, but that will have to wait till I find a job (gotta play Metal Gear Solid 2 and I believe they Made Syphon Filter for it right?). As far as the Xbox goes, so far there hasn't really been too much on it that has me interested but if a game comes out for it that I really need then I'll go buy that too.
It's all about the games man. I don't care what console they're played on. As far as I see it I've got the best of both worlds (or maybe 4 or 5 worlds) if I've got all the consoles. I still play games on my computer and I can play any virtually game on the planet if I own the PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox. It's a win, win situation for me to have no brand loyalty.
