THe PS2 has come out with a mini version. Its really small

however, I heard that an unmod version suffer from heat issues. Meaning you can't play more than 2 hours. Is that the case?

and if a mod version, is it smooth now? i mean without problem

no, i got it a week after it came out, i keep it on overnight sometimes (san andreas load times are UNBEARABLE!)

The PSTwo has been out for a while. It does not suffer from heat issues. I really doubt Sony would release a playstation that couldn't play for two hours straight.

however there have been numerous reports of the lasers keeling over...usually during playback of scrtched media when the laser is working harder than usual

yeap, maybe the 2 hours play max time is refering to the Laser problem.

anyone can verify that? now i am focusing on Mod system

Better question - where do you intend to buy one? I'm in the market for one too (either a "big one" or a new one) and can't find one ANYFREAKINGWHERE - even the refurbs are all out of stock and backordered with no projected arrival.

I have a big one in perfect condition which I hardly play anymore. How much are you willing to pay? 🙂 PM me details and I'll think about it. 😛

i dont think the two hour play time is referring to the laser issue...although its a possibility...they have also been known to die trying to read media that isnt very reflective...there is a mod you can do to the newer versions called the romeo mod...basically you reduce voltge to the laser controller chip to make it last longer...the downside? it becomes more difficult to read bad quality media...but you should only play decent media in your ps2 to save the laser anyway
