I just bought a PS2 and Grand Theft Auto 3 for it, first off the connector in the back for power wouldnt go in the slot so i sliced it with a knifw until it worked. Finally i got it to turn on but my game wouldnt play, it says Please insert a playstation or playstation 2 disc, well i tried my regular playstation games and they got the same message, but i put an audio cd in and it worked! whats goin on
 
who did u buy it from, sounds like its defective.

you shouldnt have had to have sliced the cable either, it should have fit in no prob.

yeah... a not fitting cable is never a good sign... i'd return it and get a new one.. definetly sounds like you got a dud.
 
i doubt u will be able to take it back after fing withe the cable like that though, if you bought it retail take it back.

if someone sold it to you via fs/ft or egay then tell them that you want a refund.

The power plug is directionaly keyed
