I haven't seen it myself but supposedly the first gen. games used an older SDK so the second-generation of games are really supposed to push the envelope...we'll see I guess.

Its because the DC is easy to develop for... PS2 wont be half the machine the DC is.

Supposedly the ps2 is much better than the dreamcast. I haven't had a chance to see the graphics(other than in magazines, which were pretty good), since it doesn't come out till tomorrow for me. I'm not too interested in ps2, though I heard they had shortage problems and there are limited supplies of Plastation 2s. Is it true that they aren't honoring the reserve request and selling them on a first come first serve basis?

well ive had mine since last night and been pretty much been playing non stop...madden 2001 and SSX and well if this is an indication of things to come then man are we living in good times or what....only drawback right now...software prices.....avg game price here in canada is 69.00 to 74.99 OUCH...shelled out almost 750 bucks for everything last night.....

Well, i dont own PS2 so i can't say for definate. And yes so far they are only first gen. titles.
But i do have a friend in japan and he said PS2 games are not that good so far over there. And what got me more upset was PS2's graphics! didnt they tell us that GT2000 (now GT3) will look exactly like those movies in GT1 and GT2? no freakin way! i've seen preview movies and they dont look nearly that good. Yes, it is not done yet so i can only hope. But same goes for Armored Core. They showed AC movie long time ago and said PS2 can do it real time, but if u see that game now its just more of Armored Core on PS with more stuff on screen at once. I am not bashing it or saying u should not get PS2, but this PS2 hype is... well hype. And i was amazed at games for Dreamcast now. They look way better and have much better games now, and if they dont make good games for it (i only want GT3!!!!!!!) like in japan, ill just be happy with my PC setup. just watch some demo movies for ShenMue for dreamcast (wow...) and they also got Capcom vs. SNK .

is sony charging too much for license fees or is it really hard to code for? well well only time will tell..

polygons are not everything....

Gimmie five my man! I have both, though I admit I am partial to Soul Calibur, being a fighter fan and all.

Teken Team Tournament looks good on PS2. Damn you Namco for ditching the Dreamcast! Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore looks horrible on the PS2, jaggy city. They needed to add FSAA to that title, bad.

I was reading about the Xbox from Microsoft due out next year. It sounded like it was going to blow the PS2 away. But that's next year.

XBOX: 150 million p/s 733 mHz processor
PS2: 66 million p/s 300 mHz processor

Finally someone else who agrees. I finally saw a few local ps2 demo machines. WTF? The way people were going on about it I expected something amazing...not so. I hope they get the bugs out and program it to its specs. Hard to program, legacy games (maden, Gt3, ac), expensive...sounds like the saturn to me. I hope I am wrong and will be buying a ps2 in a month or so.

PS. Did anyone else notice the video they show on tv for the ps2 looks a lot better then the actual system in person. What kinda tv are they using for that? I have seen the ps2 on several different monitor and it still does not look as good as some of the news clips have shown it to be. Any ideas? Component vs. s-video?

same is DreamCast.

I recently read a article saying that if you have Dreamcast, don't bother getting PS2 cuz the graphics is pretty much the same. The only extra feature is just the DVD Player. For that extra feature (PS2 $300 - DC $150 = $150+), I rather use that $150 to buy a separte dvd player.

hmmm.. i wonder if u'll say the same thing in 1 month. only time will tell and people will see the truth after the PS2 &quot;HYPE&quot; dies down. but then again, i dont own one yet so i can't really claim that as truth. But from movies ive seen and preivews ive read, i think PS2 is very underpowered from its original specs of so called &quot;real time Bugs Life&quot;. LoL those games look more like PS games with little fizzz on top to me... but like i said. only time will tell after the hype on it settles down. if u like it good enjoy it.
