Playing Xbox 360 on my monitor?

Run your computer to the monitor via DVI, and then use the MS VGA cable and plug the 360 into the VGA slot. There should be a button on the monitor to switch between inputs.

Why is the xbox 360 vga cable 40 bucks? 🙁 - Sounds like a rip to me. I guess cables are always a ripoff. Can get one for cheap on fleabay maybe.

Thanks for the replies.

I'd stay away from third party VGA cables for the 360, I've heard nothing but bad. I bought the $40 VGA cable last year for my monitor, but now I use it to get 1080p on my TV. Definitely worth it.

I've read lots of bad things as well. Check some of the reviews of the 3rd party cables. I'm happy with my official MS cable.

I got my VGA cable for $20 from Toys R Us when the closed the store in town. I realize this doesn't help you but I was pretty happy about that. I leave my component cables hooked up to my TV and my VGA cable hooked up to my monitor.

if your monitor has HDCP and you get the 360 with HDMI, you could use HDMI to DVI cable instead, those can be had for around 10 bucks at monoprice.com I think

You can convert your composite cable that came with your 360 into a VGA cable since it has all the pins in the connector. Joystiq.com has a guide for it.

Definitely going the Fleabay route for these cables. Just bought an Xbox360 on ebay earlier tonight 🙂

There seem to be different XBOX 360 vga cables though, i mean, just the ones manufactured by microsoft. This one here has a yellow input for some reason?

This one is what I'm thinking about buying tonight.

Should I be worried at all about the different Microsoft 360 VGA cables out there?
