Playing US UMD movies on PSP

I bought the white PSP when I was in Japan recently. Here in the US I bought a PSP movie, but as soon as I put it in and tried to play it, it complained about wrong region. Is there anything I can do about this? What I can see is that I can download/buy a program that will convert DVD movies to PSP format which I can then download to the PSP.
 
You actually bought a UMD movie?

Congratulations, I think you're the first one......ever.

Stick to DVDs next time. Play them in you're standalone player, convert them to iPod/PSP/DivX/whatever.
