Playing StarForce Games Without Installing It

I've got a copy of STALKER and it requires installing StarForce, which I refuse to install after hearing all of the horror stories about it nuking systems. Is there any way to install the game without installing StarForce?

guess you could try to find those no cd cracks or fixed exes whatever they are called (are those legal?)

I got the game from a friend, so I didn't pay for it. (No, I'm not pirating it. Don't even go there.)

Won't work, it makes you install StarForce before the game.

What I usually do is go out and buy the game, then download it. For your situation since you got it from a friend I'm not sure what you could do.

How would downloading the game help? Normally it's just an ISO image of the CD\DVD so I'd be in the same pickle.

Only Russian version has starforce.... Aye aye matey. EU =securrom , US= nada no protection

I uninstalled Starforce recently, and my system feels alot snappier.

EDIT: can't play PoP: TT anymore though, but finished it.
