So it sounds like you want to "supposedly buy" PS3 games and play them on your computer?

In other words, you want to by pass the actual PS3 hardware. If that's what you are referring to, then I don't know the legality of that. Sounds illegal still.

Its a gray area, as is pirating itself. If you mean that in civil law its wrong, you are right - but only if Sony sued you.

Bottom line is, since all you dicks are just making typical assumptions on this forum - as always - NO there isn't any PS3 emulator currently.

The OP asked a question. Why do we have to assume stuff that is not posted here. The answer to OP's question, is as of today, it is not possible

Agreed. People are asses around here

I wonder if the OP's parents signed off for him to be here.

Advice to the OP try to find an answer on your own through google, wiki, etc before asking on a forum. Or be prepared to have thick skin :)

wow, just wow astrosfan...sure he needs a thick skin especially when there are uncompromising jerks like you..

how is his question any different from the 100s of posts in every hardware forum asking if this piece of hardware will work on my pc, etc. do u go to all those threads and post this crap?

You should just watch playthoughs on Youtube. I played Uncharted 1 and 2, and watched the last one on YT. When you get someone who is good at the game and doesnt commentate, its like watching a TV series.

They just started homebrew PS3 emulation literally in the past month. PS2 emulation isn't fully vetted yet even after a decade of development, we won't see PS3 emulation for quite a few years.

Asking if a video card works with a certain motherboard is very different from asking about an emulator. Unfortunately, when someone asks about an emulator they are, within reasonable probability, wanting it to run illegally obtained software. But since he's only 12 and wants to play PS3 games, without a PS3 he probably doesn't know or care that playing downloaded isos (or whatever format the game needing emulation is in) in emulation is illegal. The reason for all of the 'technical difficulties', as he put it, is because Sony has spent many many dollars creating the hardware and software producing these 'technical difficulties' to protect their product and business from lost revenue due to illegal activities.

However, the above is under the assumption that he is wanting to play a PS3 game, illegally obtained, on his computer.

But, since he is 12, and like my 12 year old son...maybe he is interested in developing his own game and thinks that if he had a PS3 emulator he could do that on his own PC. For that question, the answer would be that Sony does have a developer's kit, but that too will not run on a PC, but is essentially a PC itself. The SDK is used to make games for the PS3. They did drop the price on them to like $10K as it has all of the hardware with the 'technical difficulties' that cannot be emulated. But, you'll probably have to setup a company to purchase. The first google search returned for PS3 Dev kit is this:
http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/19/sony-slashes-ps3-dev-kit-cost-by-half/

Also, the Sony SDK has been leaked and can be found on the web, but that is not legal either...and would be easier to just legally purchase their SDK.

So, bottom line is at the current time there is no legally (or even illegally) working way to play PS3 games on a PC. The easiest way to play PS3 games is to obtain a PS3 and obtain a PS3 game.

Being a 12 year old I can forgive the obvious attempt to get free games because on what planet could he afford a PS3 and the games he wants to play? I will be honest with you kid, the best advice I can give you after reading this thread is don't assume that just because someone says it is awesome that it is. I have 4 PS3's and just about every game you could ever want and they mostly collect dust.

At your age the best advice I can give you is make sure you get really good grades, then go to the best college you can and take a major in a relavent field (i.e. one where you actually can make money with your degree, think math/science/engineering types).

Then when you graduate college with honors you can be 22 years old and making $50,000 a year or more. You could buy any game system you ever wanted, and any game, at that point. I hope for your sake you come back and take the time to read this.

You know guys, emulators are useful beyond pirating games, even more so than PC game cracks are. I will probably never dig out my actual PS2 hardware and its tens of games again, because many of the best displays do not accept component input, and visual quality of many of the games is bad because they do not expose progressive output and/or lack intelligent scaling from internal low res to high res. An emulator is needed to enjoy those games at their best.

because most people asking these types of questions want to do so illegally.

At the risk of repeating myself, a PS3 emulator does exist (RPCS3), but only runs some homebrew.

To emulate a PS3 you need to connect two PS3's together and connect them to your PC.

Eh, stranger things have happened. My PS2 died some years ago, and when I want to play FFX or Kingdom hearts, I'm surely not going to go out and buy a new PS2. I do pop the DVD in my PC and emulate it though so that I can still play it.

(Yes, I know I'm responding to a newly necroed old thread)

PS3 emulation will arrive once CPU's are sufficiently fast enough to emulate a totally different architecture in real-time, just like they will with xbox360, etc. No time soon though.

No he's probably 25 and still acting like a 12 year old, i.e. the majority of our membership.
you didn't answer, the guy asked a question, and you acted like frustrated high school girls making pathetic corny jokes, so it appears that the OP is the one who should wish you good luck with your life.
