Playing out of date App

The app from my cable company was replaced with a new version, but they also keyed it for a very select few eligible devices. So while I previously ran the former version just fine, it not stops when loading with an error message that new version available but I'm unable to install the new version because of applicability issues. Anyway to block the app from seeing the new version so I can still use the one I have installed?
