Playing Madden on the Wii is surprisingly good

Holy crap Madden on the Wii is fun. Far exceeding my expectations. Controls are great, although they take a while to get used to. I doubt it'll be fun online with the Wii though. I heard you can't throw lob passes online for some reason *shrug*.

Anyways, it's a whole new experience to play Madden 09 on the wii. Especially for someone such as myself who still owns the first edition of John Madden Football.

that is what i thought too when i played 07 on it ... for the first 2-3 games or so, then the gimmicky controls wore off and it felt just like any old madden game.

Doesn't that pretty much sum up all EA Sports games?

Of course it feels like a Madden game, it is Madden :p - If you don't like it on other consoles there's no reason you'd like it on the Wii.

Despite what you may have heard recently, it actually is still possible to make a decent game for the Wii.

There are plenty of good games on the Wii. Just the fact that Madden actually plays well on it is the surprising thing.

No kidding and it is bad on the PS3 (less optimized than the 360 version and it runs at a lower resolution (1080 versus 720)).

This is the first time I've played Madden on the Wii, so it's surprising to me :). Last couple years I've got it for PC but alas there is no PC version this year. Hopefully they retool the sports games and have Madden and Tiger Woods with current-gen graphics next year on PC.

After playing a few more games, trying to manually catch is a pain in the ass and it hardly ever works, same with trying to put up a lob pass, very tricky. Instead of having wii-movement controls for those two things they should of just made some corresponding buttons for it (Maybe the 1 or 2 button). Then again the wiimote would have to have a pressure sensitive button so you could tap it lightly for a lob and hold it down for a bullet pass, and I'm not sure if the wiimote has one.
