I've searched endlessly for a program that can play / convert XMI files. I have come across one, but it was only a trial, and wasnt able of converting them. Does anybody know of a free program that can play this type of file?

Thanks

It really depends on what type of .XMI files they are. .XMI can be an extension for Everquest media files, XML Metadata Interchange files, or Extended MIDI music files.

If they are Everquest files, they would play using EQ's proprietary software. XML files should work in modern web browsers. Extended MIDI files should play back normally in pretty much any current media player. You won't be able to convert them, but they should play normally in WinAmp and Windows Media Player.

Meaning that EverQuest has a proprietary audio player integrated into the game that is used to play the audio files while you are playing the game. If you want to play those files outside of the game, you'll need to somehow get their player in a form that will work outside of the game, or find a 'hacked' version released by someone else. I did some searching and couldn't find one myself...
