Player gets red card for tackling intruder

LONDON -- The streaker wore green. The soccer player got a red card.
A man wearing nothing but a bright green thong and a curly black wig dashed onto the field during a low-level game in England on Monday.
Dorchester player-manager Ashley Vickers ended the intruder's 30-second jaunt with a thudding tackle during the 70th minute of the game against Havant & Waterlooville. Vickers was ejected for his efforts.
He says: "The funny thing was the stewards actually thanked me for it. But the ref decided to send me off."
Dorchester, which plays in the sixth tier of English soccer, lost 3-1. The score was 1-1 before the intruder appeared. Havant banned the streaker from the stadium.

I think the security is the only one allowed to touch fans, regardless of whether they are on the field or not. It is a legal thing. If the fan gets hurt, he could sue, unless it was a security company which is covered. That is how my friend explained it. Might be different in Europe though.

I mean.... Pads or not: an Offensive Tackle weighs 300+ lbs and if he hits you... well... by my calculations, the guy would be spending the next 6 months taking his meals through a straw.

Pretty sure that's why US Football fans generally aren't as stupid as the UK ones.

Why even risk it? Just let security handle it.

It's not like he was in a bad part of town at 2am, covered in gold chains and wads of cash hanging out of his fucking pockets. While thong man was running after him with an AIDS blood drenched knife.

It was a fucking football game. Let the fool act like an ass and get escorted off by security.

Why does everyone have to wave their balls in public? And, that question is directed at Vickers.
