played counter strike for the first time tonight...

it was ok, all the key strokes to get gun, ammo and armor is a pain and nobody is helpful, wtf is the bomb for? they would say anything just laugh and say sh!t like i haxor jo0! etc. it was sorta fun but i think i prefer my fast paced quake 3 instead.

Check out Urban Terror at urbanterror.net its a Quake 3 mod its kinda like CS but not all the BS and cheaters.....I have been playing for 5 months now, its all i play.

Yeah, going from Quake 3 to Counter-strike is painful. It's just s000 slow in comparison. But anyways, the keys aren't too bad. It's just the BUY button, i think, that you need to get used to. After that its the binds...

and if i see cheaters, i just move on to the next server.. a bunch to choose from..

Yah, I agree. Q3A and UT mods might have better graphics and what not, but CS just has the gameplay down really good. Only thing that bests it in that area is Day of Defeat.

you have to plant the bomb at the counter-terrorists base or locations to blow up. if you successfully blow them up you team wins. just like in some levels the CT have to rescue hostages..

In bomb maps, one of the Terrorists (T from now on) gets the responsibility of carrying a timed c4 bomb. The T objective in this type of map, maps named de_"something", is to find the bomb zone and then place the bomb in the designated zone. If you're carrying the bomb, you'll see an icon on the right side of your screen indicating this. To plant the bomb, select it from your weapons menu as you would a weapon, then press the fire key and hold it. It takes about 3 or 4 seconds to activate the bomb. During this time, you cannot fire a weapon - so make sure you have good cover, or at least a couple teamates watching the area. The Ts then must stop the Counter-Terrorists (CTs) from defusing the bomb. By default, the timer is 45 seconds. If the bomb explodes, Terrorists win!

Team Fortress Classic is similar to the Quake 2 mod, but was made by Valve as a mod for Half-Life. Do you have the retail version of CS? If so, there should be an installation box you can check to include TFC. Both Counter-Strike and TFC are modifications of the Half-Life engine, which allow different gameplay modes and features.

By the way, if you don't have the retail version - TFC should have been automatically included with the latest Half-Life download. It's a pretty fun mod, give it a try!

Yeah, Ameesh, TFC is great. The best thing is, if you're killed there's no waiting for the round to be over before you can respawn. You respawn instantly.

And if your a Counter-Terrorist and you see the bomb has been planted(it will tell you) you have to run up to the bomb and hold down your "USE" key to disarm it, having a defuse kit shortens this process GREATLY!!! You have to purchase a defuse kit when you buy weapons.

I played CS after I had QIII and to be honest I like CS better. QIII gets tired after a while but those excessive servers where a lot of fun though.
