Thinking about buying a plasma tv.
My living room has a large south east facing bay window.. There are blinds on the windows to block the light.
How dark or bright can the room be before the picture gets wiped out?
I rarely watch tv during the day. If I do the grand kids are here during the day. 90% of the tv watching is during the night. Oh,,, I watch maybe one football game on a Sunday afternoon.

I have a south and a west facing window in the room my plasma is in. They have cream colored drapes on them. The west window also has blinds. The tv is on the west wall 3 feet from the window. I have no issue with the screen "washing out".

If you have light filtering/blocking over all windows/glass doors/etc, you won't have to deal with a washed out picture.

Not saying there won't be diminished viewing, but it is hardly of a major concern. Especially if most of your viewing is at night, that plasma will shine. Depending on how strong the light is outside, and how well those blinds block/filter light, you may suffer slight degradation of apparent contrast/details in shadows. How much that impacts your viewing habits, you'll have to be the judge on that one.

I'm finicky about image quality and want the best possible, and I've even managed to thoroughly enjoy TV viewing during the sunniest/brightest days in our living room. I generally do save movies for nighttime just to savor the full glory of the plasma, that and it just tends to work out that way :p - but essentially, sports viewing will still be basically perfect, unless you have the worst location for windows, the blinds are fully open, or otherwise you have made the living room the brightest place possible. Fully open light shouldn't even be a big detractor if you are viewing sports, but would probably foul the viewing experience for "critical viewing" or during movies.

All TV's look better at night, always have.

Only way I'd ever get an LCD is if I was going to put it outside. I would rather have it the best it can be at night and deal with a little less brightness in the day.
