Seems there are all sorts of problems with the wording on this rebate. I've been out of school for a while now but isn't the product the result of multiplying two numbers together? So if the rebate says it is "limited to the product [not sum] of the SKUs" it would be a large amount if you bought more than one item but $99.00 times <zero> is <zero>.
 
Just came back from my local OD. Found at least two routers left in the shelf. Grab one to check out. The CS won't give me the $100 rebate form, said this is wrong! She then threw it into the trash can! That is why so many routers there! 🙁
 
snagged one this afternoon at OD in blaine, MN.

the customer service manager checked me out, gave me both rebate receipts without even looking at them 🙂

their display said $80 after rebates.. so who knows what will happen..


if it were a simple typo, it would have only said $100 in one place on that rebate receipt.. but it says $100 in all the places on it.

we'll see what happens! crossing my fingers on this one 🙂
 
Just got back from my local OD and they had no clue about any rebates. Unfortunately, the only way to tell if the rebate will print out is to buy the unit and wait to see what spits out of the register. The counter guy said if the rebates weren't the ones I was looking for, he'd just run a refund on the spot. But the $100 and $10 ones came marching right out! He was stunned, but didn't try to take my $100 rebate form like that other OD bozo. He felt Linksys wouldn't honor the $100, but I didn't tell him I would force OD to make it up if that happened.

I sure think that we've given OD plenty of time to fix this if it's a typo (which it surely must be) and someone even posted that OD was aware of the problem and was notifying the stores. So I don't feel bad about "taking advantage" of this now.

Oh, BTW.....I decided not to be greedy and only bought one. As of 5PM PST today, there's at least one more in the glass cabinet and maybe more in lockdown. Stevens Creek OD, San Jose, CA. Go get em! 😉
 
Just a quick regards to the AT'er in Aurora with whom I was standing in the checkout line.

According to him, the shelf tag stated "Free" after rebate.

So, of the three stores I went to, 2 had free after rebate and one had nothing Although, thinking about it, it should have had the $20.00 off price. Maybe somebody snatched that one.

Good luck to those going for the rebate. Linksys is a standup company, so I hope/doubt nobody will be screwed.

Actually, rebates are generally never worded to where they would pose a mathematical question (unless it's for multiple rebates on multiple purchases, etc.). So, a common sense reading would suggest, "limited to the price of the product of the SKU", since that is what many rebate agreements state.
 
I was disappointed because I purchased my Linksys last month; it did not have the OD rebate offered, only the $10 mfgr's; decided to take it back (it was brand new and still in the sealed mfgr's cellophane packaging) and rebuy it so it would qualify for the OD and the mfgr's rebates. This works out and pays for the trip back.

How could this posssibly be a typo? I mean, the rebate form says $100 twice on it, and this shelf tag says free after rebates.
Is it possible that this truly is a "legit" hot deal?

 
Now if someone can figure out how to buy the router on-line and get the $100. Then either get an OD CSR to PM against buy.com price or run it by AmericanExpress to get some of the difference.

Thanks, I took the plunge and ordered online w/$20 off 75 coupon. I will print the $100 rebate as suggested by Rally1 and see what happens. With the shelf tag proof and the wording on the rebate, this should be good to go. If not I will simply return it without the barcode. Thanks again!
 
My store's shelf tag looked a little different than the one Branded posted, it did not have the product desc, and the "Don't Forget" part (lower left), but the words "$99 - $110 rebate = FREE" were big and bold on yellow background. 🙂
So no matter which way you look at this, it's got to be legit.

Probably SHOULD work, since the rebate slip says online as well. My only concern was/is that the instore printout is the rebate receipt and the form as one (as you've seen). But, it doesn't seem like that matters if you read the rebate portion.

I think we're headed towards some interesting times with this one.

Thanks Branded. You may very well be right that the poor Rebate manager is being sacked even as we speak. But, this tag makes it helpful for us to have in case we have to fight it. OD's in a tough position on this one. As I mentioned earlier, there's no disclaimer to typos or anything.

I've got six already and have decided not to get anymore. But again, what do any of you think about submitting multiple $100.00 rebates from the same name/address/household. Not explicitly disallowed on the big rebate--though it is on the litttle one.
 
OD is in a -tough- position.

1) we have a shelf tag that advertises it being free after rebate
2) we have a receipt that says in 2 places that it is a $100 rebate
3) the receipt mentions nothing of a disclaimer against typos

i suggest keeping very good documentation of all of your receipts and everything for this deal. it will pay off in the end.

do any of you guys know if sending certified mail works with rebates?i ask this because i am sure it's not like going to a normal persons mail box, but a huge company that gets tons of mail.

i want to be 100% sure that i get this $100 back.

if it were me i think it's best to get an in-store printout. there might be a unique transaction ID on that receipt which could cause problems.

 
I send any rebate over $30 with a "Return Receipt Requested" form from USPS.
I think it costs a buck, maybe 3,
They have to sign and date it to get it from the mailman.
The part they sign gets mailed back to me.
It has a serial and everything, and you just stick to the outside of any envelope.
