I'm not calling either of you liars, just saying that you are both demonstrating exactly why you should not post on subjects you know very little about. I may be a complete troll or whatever, but I don't think you should post MEDICAL (or any other serious type), advice when you don't know what you are talking about. When I call someone dumb either directly or in a round about way I am not doing nearly the harm that someone who posts advice on serious subjects, which when taken, can cause actual physical harm.

I tried duct tape on a bunch that grew between my toes. They kept spreading and the duct tape did little to help. Ended up getting them frozen off.

It hurt like hell because they had spread so much, and when the doctor got done it looked like I had third degree burns on my toes. But they fell off.

I guess you know more than her doctor that looked at it.

I've had them, sure looked like the ones I've had. Like a bundle of little fingers in a mound, maybe 3 mm in dia.

I had a plantar wart on the underside of my tongue. I pulled it out.

This here. Freshman year of HS I managed to get planters warts on my left foot. 5 of them all in the same general area. Went to the doc's and had them do that. They all fell off liek 10 days later or something like that.

I was able to remove two on my feet fairly quickly using a combination of salicylic acid, duct tape, and a pumice stone. Once a week (or whenever the duct tape would fall off) I applied the salicylic acid and covered it with duct tape. Before applying the duct tape, I used the pumice stone to remove all the dead skin. After about three months, both are pretty much gone.

Just to give some perspective, I also had one on my toe that took 9 months to remove using plain salicylic acid since I could not get the duct tape to stay wrapped around my toe.

I have to respectfully disagree. I had them on both my hands and feet at the same time. In both locations they appeared in callouses. Call me a liar if you want but I know it is possible. My experience has bee they commonly appear in locations wear there are heavy callouses.

I had a ton of them for aaaages on one foot. I tried those little pads with the salicylic acid on them, and while they did a good job killing the skin where they were, they never fully went away. I tried the little home-kit for freezing them off, and same results, but never fully disappeared. Hoped that they would eventually go away on their own, but when they started spreading to the other foot (and even one on my thumb), I went to the doctor.

He put some medication on them, gave me a prescription told me to come back in a few weeks. But I was wary after that, because when I was a kid, my brother had problems with them as well, and it took trip after trip to the doctor before he eventually just froze them off. It essentially ended up being a waste of his time and money, and he should have just skipped to the last step.

Strangely enough, about two weeks after visiting the doctor, I went to Germany, and in two weeks, they were all gone. About 2+ years of plantars and trying everything under the sun to get rid of them, and they ended up disappearing during a trip to Europe. No idea why.

My best advice would be to try those salicylic pads, since I had the best luck with those. Good luck!

NO YOU DID NOT! This is not a subject for debate. It is purely a fact.

It is this. 'I know something about this so I will open my sewer and regurgitate it' attitude that causes people to actually believe stuff like duct tape will aid in the removal of warts.

All warts are caused by HPV.
There is no cure for HPV (or any virus).
There are 100s of strains of HPV viruses (someone say virii, I fucking double dare you!).
Some HPV strains cause skin lesions (warts), in some people.
One can have HPV and never develop lesions.
One can have lesions that never go away.
One can have lesions that do go away.
One can have lesions that come and go.
If one has HPV, despite symptomatic treatment, they will never not have HPV even if the symptoms never return.

Most studies suggest that symptomatic HPV has to do with the state of the infected person's immune system. Most other resident viruses also have this correlation.

Only two drugs that I know about have ever been clinically proven to reduce the virus count; Alpha Interferon, and Imiquimod. Even with treatment by these drugs, symptoms can return. HPV symptoms can return regardless of the treatment method used. People who have successfully treated the symptoms of HPV still have HPV and are at risk for reoccurring symptoms for their entire lives.

FWIW I remember having warts on my feet as well. But I had more on my hands. I just used the term planter?s warts because that?s what the doctor called them.

As far as offering suggestions goes, the OP should be well aware of all the inconclusive data available. He might be better served by asking a pharmacist rather than seeking advice from anyone at ATOT.

That being said, the power of suggestion can be as real as you want it to be. In my case I was so tired of getting my hands, and feet, bloodied by various treatments I was willing to try anything. I use potatoes and they worked for me.

I've had success with a prescription drug, Solaraze, in removing some small ones (apply a cream twice a day and cover with a bandage). For the larger ones, or the ones that hurt when I walked, I ended up just getting them cut out. It was kind of 'scary' the first time I ever had one burned/cut out (~3rd grade, and then didn't have problems again till the end of HS), but it's so much better in the long run. You don't have to deal with the BS of consistently failing treatments, and if you're young, after they are cut out, you'll be all healed by the time the other, noninvasive treatments would see any real effects.

LOL its just creepy now Queasy.
He super freaked out about the "freezing" thing. We made the mistake of explaining it to him instead of just taking him and having it done.

I think we're going to go the Mediplast route (with Duct tape). Reviews online are promising... we have a friend that is a dermatologist I have to admit, and he mentioned that this method can be just as successful.

I was the same way when I was 8 then I grew a small set of un-descended testes and got it over with. Make him go, not only is it a sure fire thing but it only stings for a second before going numb and he will feel good about it after.

I cut into one with an exacto-knife, poured in rubbing alcohol, and covered it with electrical tape for two days. Worked like a charm.

Well I'll be one to tell you how big of a bitch these are. I just had one about the size of a dime remove from the outer ball on my right foot. Hurt like CRAZY for 3 months and finally got to the point where I couldn't walk because it was a weight bearing surface. I actually saw a podiatrist and scheduled a schedule. Had it removed about 2 weeks ago. Was on crutches for ~3 days and on a lot of vicodin. Get them treated before they get worse. I wouldn't try a bunch of home remedies, because they take time, which they might just get worse. Awful little buggers!

Also: to everyone that says freeze it, that will not work. They are on the base of the foot. Another method that the doctor tried on me was blistering agent which blistered it from underneath and was painless, but mine was larger and it couldn't get rid of the whole thing.

Whenever I have had warts, I have burned them off with a torch and a hot ice pick. Hurts a lot less than you might think and it works well. I haven't had a wart in a few years though.

LN didn't do anything for me, neither did the OTC cryo spray. The 3 of mine that were hit with cryo all eventually came back. Duct tape did seem to soften up the skin over the wart and slough it off, but it never killed any of mine. Be careful about home surgery or aggressive abrasion that draws blood, you can *easily* spread 1 wart into a cluster of several new ones.

I had them for 10 freaking years, then they magically and unceremoniously went away. The only advice I have is to avoid getting them in the first place; wear your shower shoes in the dorm/public shower.

Plantars warts are actually a virus related to HPV.

Yep. It's a virus that lives quite well on shower floors, after some warty bastard has been standing there for 15 minutes and leaves some wart puddles behind.

Only on ATOT could a simple request about wart removal turn into a argument.
