I'm not religious in any way, so I really don't give a crap about my funeral. They could toss my corpse in a ditch for all I care. What's me is gone anyway.

oh yeah.

I want a party. Food i like, music i like, beer i like and everyone eat and get wasted. No depressing bullshit. it should be a time of remembering the person and how they lived. If you are religious you should celebrate they are in heaven, they are with family and friends.

Not being a smart-ass, but why would you care?
I've thought about it myself (and probably would if I had any clue how to).

I don't really want anything fancy, but I imagine it would take a load off anyone I leave behind to not have to worry about making preparations and paying for it all in the presumably-catastrophic wake of my death.

Any of you guys give any thought to your own funeral?

I've been letting my wife know my wishes lately. How the service should go, etc...

Today I told her I want this song sung at the service, in german.

each person is different. I'm dying (not too soon I hope), my wife is younger and will probably outlive me, so I thought I'd let her have some ideas so she at least has something to go on.
Have you made the financial provisions for her to be able to carry out your wishes?

In all seriousness, preplanning takes a real load off those who are left behind. I just dealt with this with my mother. She had everything paid for, including the soloist. I only had to pay for a headstone. Much easier...
Yup, my Father passed away last October. While he still had all of his faculties he told my Mother, Sister, and me how he wanted to go out. My sister and I prepaid all the essentials. My Mother was so relieved that she's done the same for herself.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Not yet. Whatever's cheapest is fine though, cremation I guess? I don't, and won't, give a fuck what happens to my body after I die. My surviving family might so ultimately it is up to them I suppose.

EDIT: At this point, I would plan for cremation I guess, but thrown in a ditch or something works too.

Far more people should pre-plan their funerals and also their end of life medical care. Once I start getting up there I fully intend to have all those details squared away (estate, living will, funeral arraignments). It makes it a lot easier on the family.

My wishes are to have a Diplomacy tournament. I think it would be a riot to see family members and friends play this game all day.
