Planning to create a wireless network in my house. Suggestions?

i'm sharing wireless DSL w/my roommate, but he's moving out. DSL is in his name, and the router is his.

I have a 802.11b usb adapter (desktop) and 2 802.11b pcmcia cards (laptop).

if i were to start wireless, should i keep the old stuff, or move to the new 802.11i standard w/WPA encryption?

Is WPA worth the cost of buying everything over again?

WPA-PSK is still vunerable, although a nice long passphrase , no SSID broadcasting and MAC filtering will help.

what's the diff between that and if i used WEP w/no SSID and using MAC filtering?

As far as computers go there is always New stuff in the Horizon.

So if you need you buy, otherwise it is like waiting for Godot.

Current 802.11g has WPA.

The new 802.11i would have additional security on top of the WPA.

Whether it is crucial to your system? It depends of waht you are doing if you are running a "Bookie Operation":shocked: on the Wireless you might want to wait.

If you really are that concerned about security use a wired router.
