Finally thinking about getting myself a cell (been using the work phone for the past 3 yrs :) ), any good phones I should consider? I don't really care too much about text messenging or surfing the web on it, main thing is that it's nice and small. :) Paying $50 extra is probably the most I can do though ...

nokia 6820 looks pretty neat.

Also, anyone tried switching their plan to an old phone and eb@ying the new one? Is it easy?

TIA!

The samsung I have is ok I guess. I don't like it as much as I liked the sony-ericsson I had, but it was only about $50.

ATT/Cingular is GSM, meaning you can pop out SIM card from new phone and insert it in your old Cingular phone or any unlocked GSM phone. It's that simple.

ah, so there's no worry that once I've ebay'd the phone I would get stuck with the charges to the phone because the billing is tied with the SIM card?

i really like my Sony/Ericsson T610. small, great battery life, bluetooth, camera, infrared (great for transfering pics and syncing to outlook on my laptop). nice screen. also it has an aluminum back which gives the whole phone a feeling of sturdiness. i use it with AT&T. i don't know which of those companies are offering the best deals right now. i do know that where they are in the process of migration, AT&T customers can call using Cingular towers, but NOT the other way around. so if you buy a cingular service plan, expect pretty crappy reception until they get it sorted out. AT&T on the other hand is great because you've got all the AT&T towers (already pretty good) plus all the Cingular towers, which pretty much fills in any gaps left by AT&T. but you don't get rollover minutes.
