planning on building a web server

im planning to build a web server for $500 with dual core and at least 2 gb. I want to use Pentium E2160 but I dont know which motherboard and ram is stable enough to run 24/7 without overheating. I also need 2 250gb SATA and what brand is good? Is it better to have 4gb than 2gb ram?

Depends what you are planning on running. I mean, what do you want to host? And how many users do you need to serve? Anyways, if its just HTML pages, run a Linux apache server, and you wont need more than 2GB RAM. Any midrange motherboard should be fine, and as for RAM, again, just test it thoroughly, and you wont have any problems. Hard drives: Is that 2 for RAID 1? Hope so. Anyways, Seagate, WD either way works. especially if you spring for the ES (enterprise) models.

ok here is my config for the web server
Processor: Intel Core2Duo E6550
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express
Ram: 2Gb PC5300
HD: 2x Western Digital Raptor WD740ADFD 74GB for RAID1
PSU: FSP 450W

Is it good setup?

Unless you have heavy data basing with SQL, a web server would run just as well with a P-III CPU and a regular HD.
