yes, it's gonna work this year. every year before i end up rushed and only do one at the last minute, but this year i'm going all out.

my plan: 7 pumpkins, the entire main cast of "my little pony: friendship is magic".

before the my little pony idea, i was thinking a couple pokemon (psyduck and squirtle), billy mays, and the nixon victory stencil. was also thinking about raptor jesus, but the stencil i have is too complex for cutting.

I was just thinking about this yesterday when I learned that people dress up in costumes at my new job.

I need to build some kind of electronic costume. I was thinking of making some kind of clothing with a ton of LEDs in it.

i always try to do interesting/unique pumpkins.. it's just this year is the first time i'm gonna try so many.
 
here's what i got so far.

probably not gonna keep those particular captions, but every pumpkin will have a caption.

pinkie pie is gonna be either that (welcome to the herd) or "party?"

fluttershy is definitely gonna be that. (yay)

rainbow dash is gonna be "20% cooler \n (at least)"

not sure what to do with twilight's drinking, or spike's tophat and moustache. (maybe something snidely whiplash related?)

still can't think of anything for rarity or applejack.
 
How many people besides Fayd here actually plan for Halloween two months in advance? Disclaimer: I don't care for Halloween. I don't play dress-up and I don't have children, so most of the day is lost on me. That said, I don't plan for ANYTHING two months in advance; the thought of planning for a mid-fall holiday in the hottest part of the summer completely boggles my mind.

Nice carvings. You have too much time on your hands, but so do I and I don't use mine for anything artistic, so more power to you. How are you going to distinguish between the ponies in a monochromatic medium though? They all look pretty similar to me apart from the color differences which won't show up on a pumpkin. I guess fans will be able to tell them apart pretty easily...

hairstyles and differences between types of ponies.

unicorns vs earth ponies vs pegasus ponies. (there's 2 of each)

beyond that, i'm gonna be doing them with the same method as i used for hypnotoad, except this time i got an x-acto kit, so i can get pretty detailed.

like, rainbow dash's mane is gonna be separated by color. even if i don't actually put color into it, who it is will be pretty clear.
 
new plan... only doing 4. i'm bad at graphic editing. if someone else were willing to do the stencils for me, i'd be willing to carve them..

anyways, i'm thinking for these 4 it's gonna be fluttershy, rainbow dash, spike, and.....dunno. derpy?
 
I can try to whip up a stencil of one of them; I'm not really a fan of the show(didn't even know there was one when the craze started, not sure even now; maybe it's time for me to sit out on the front porch w/ a shotgun . . ..) but I'll do the bottom right if you can send me a bigger version of that picture.

actually that was the biggest version i could find.

so with rainbow dash i decided to go with a vectored image i found.

Edit: If you want a bigger size, I can email you a pdf or give you a bigger jpg as well. Being a bit anal here, but I feel as if I should have reversed out the eyes so that the whites are blacked in (so it would shine through as opposed to the pupils shining through) - juuuust sayin'.
