DAM,

If they do receive tax money, it would change my outlook on the "issues" advertising they are currently doing. It would not change my outlook on the organization itself.

Well, I'll be. According to Planned Parenthood's annual report for the fiscal year ending in 1998, they receive about $160 million a year of taxpayer funded support.

So, how does everyone feel about this outfit spending your money to run attack ads against Bush?

Yes, DAM.
when an organization receives federal tax money
lots of things change.

Taxes are for important stuff.
If you don't pay them you lose your home
or your freedom.

Russ, can you find out if this outfit has 501-C-3 status?
If it does, I'm fairly sure there are strict rules about
using the money to influence the outcome of elections.

PP isnt just about abortions, they also teach birth control methods, give out condoms and help women deal with unwanted pregnancy in ways other than abortion.

I went to one of these places one time with an old gf to deal with a matter we had and they were great to us.

http://www.plannedparenthood.org/library/FAQ's.html

According to that:
Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. is a tax-exempt corporation under Internal Revenue Service code section 501(c)(3) and is not a private foundation. (Tax ID #13-1644147) Contributions are tax deductible.
The IRS classifies the Planned Parenthood Action Fund as a 501(c)(4), not-for-profit organization. Contributions are not tax deductible.

Damn Republican congress.

Hopefully we'll at least have the House given back to the people next month!

They are far more about abortions than anything else. They are the single largest provider in the entire country. In 1998 they handled over 160,000 of these "surgeries".

From what I've learned about Illinois and Iowa PP's, the clinics don't perform the abortions. They make the arragements between the women and the surgeon that would actually be doing the procedure.

I could be wrong, but that's what I've learned in a couple college classes.

well Russ, that may be true, but they never pushed it on us or even mentioned it for that matter.

you act like the minute someone walks in, they are pushing them into the operating room. its not like that.
