:D

For the most part you have received great advice.

I think in your OP you spec'ed a great system - it's just overkill for what you say your goals are and guys are just trying to save you $200 - $300.

Don't take me wrong, lol, just because I disagree with some advice given to me does not mean I don't appreciate it. I do, I just don't think I have a need for a new monitor and it seems to me that the better the PC I build right now, the longer it will last. I cant bring myself to spend 200-300 on a monitor that I don't feel I need.

Grab the X3 720 + motherboard combo deal - that's about the best value on the market today. Plenty of power even at stock for most games out there.

Second get a 4870 1GB. Best maker is XFX hands down - double lifetime warranty - so if anything happens you're covered and you can transfer the warranty if you ever sell the card (just make sure to register as soon as you get the card).

Newegg is running a 10% off all video cards (coupon code VGASALE10) but it expires today so don't wait around.

Thanks for the advice. How big is the performance difference going to be though between the X3720 and the X4955? As advised elsewhere, I have to cut out some parts anyway because I will need a new OS. I planned on reusing XP, but I was told the system wouldnt work on XP so I need to buy Vista...which is another $100 expense. So I might have to go to a last gen chip...
