Edit: wtf I dont think I ever tried planetside yet my handle is in use. I have never ever ran across some one using my handle which makes me think maybe i did try this game.

less than 5 hours 🙂

when you start out, you can do like 10 training missions, plus you get xp for handling other weapons and stuff
so if you do all that, you will end up at BR 4.8. which can be done in around 30 mins, if you know the stuff
if not, spending time learning the stuff can take an hour or so.

you only get 11 cert points to spend at BR5, so you are limited at what you can do
the 1st week you make a toon, you have the ability to respec over and over
so you can be a flyer then a grunt, whatever

me and my friends have been playing for the last week and it is fun
the good thing about only being br6 is you don't worry about xp

the game is nearly the same as it was 3 years ago when it came out, a few things have changed but not much
the world you go to have a limit of how many people can be on them at one time, in the line to get in, free players get bumped behind
paying ones, so you can wait 10 mins on a busy night.

This sounds like a last ditch effort to renew interest in the game before games like Huxley and Battelfield 2142 come out. I played for a couple of years, back when the game came out and make no mistake, it is a lot of fun, especially if you get into a clan of organized people. It just lost it's luster and made some poor choices when it came to enhancements like mechs that were simply ridiculously overpowered. The variety of certifications is nice, and it really can be fun, but it gets worn a bit thin after a while.

I was actually in the beta. No doubt you can waste some time on this but at $10 a month? No thanks. You can get a copy of UT2004 and almost get the same effect on a crowded Onslaught server. I might give it another spin now that they have a freebie effect going on, but maybe I'll just stick to DOD:Source

Was a refreshingly fun game when I played during the beta, but I didn't like some of the add-ins they put in the game later on. Kind of made things a little unbalanced. But, free is great, and I can't wait to start playing this game again 🙂

Well....played PS since beta......

Why? No competition. Many games do a better job on a much smaller scale. Make no doubt about it, games like BF, UT, Quake, etc all are 'prettier' and quite frankly run more smoothly BUT.....and yes, its a big fat 'BUT'......not a single one of those games comes anywhere near the scale of PS. Yes, there are limitations on how many players can be in a certain zone at any one time but still....I have seen airdrops (think massive parachute drops) with over 80 people....for a single side....in a heavily contested 3 way contest....and the funniest part is that they got slaughtered by the awaiting defenders 😉

Make no doubt about it...PS is an older game but if you havent seen the pure scale of it in a heavily contested 3 way fight involving up to 500 people then you really need to 😉

Does anyone know the game Infantry. It's a shame that they made it p2p. great game but remains pretty much unchanged for the past 5 years haha
