PlanetSide now free.

There is only online play, and yes it is free. Hoever, you can only get to BattleRank 5 (stinks, but you still can do some stuff) and CommandRank 2 (doesn't matter as much).
 
Actually its BR6. And it doesn't limit you like an RPG. PlanetSide uses a certification system for equipment use. You use certification points to become certified to use a weapon/vehicle/armor. You can then forget that certification and learn something else at designated terminals. You can get everything in the game(guns, vehicles, support equitment, armor, etc.), but you just can't have it all at once.

Also, its an FPS, so you can have the best of everything in the game and still die to a skilled low level player easily.

Antother bonus is the game is entirely PvP. No sissy computers, only intelligent, thinking people.

Nice, I wish they would do this with more games at the end of there lifespan rather than let them sink into oblivion as people stop playing.
 
Just got off playing it for a few hours... addicitive. The first few hours are boring. Missions and stuff like that.
 
I might have to give this a shot. Seemed fairly interesting when it came out but I'm not a fan of paying per month to play a game when there's plenty of good ones out there that don't have monthly fees. This is probably worth checking out. Thanks.

PlanetSide was on it's last leg but the Devs are hoping to breath new life into it with this trial. It gives people the chance to experience it without paying to see if it is really worth it. About 2 years ago, they had 30 day free trials, and that is how I got roped in. This game is worse then World of Warcrack.

The hugemongous battles and being on a map with actual objectives instead of just kill the other team, are the biggest assets of PlanetSide.

If anyone is seriously interested in learning tactics, this is the #1 place to do it.

Also, if anyone wants to run in a tight squad, can listen to orders and has a Vanu char on Markov, type a "/who wnx" or "/who zensal" and send us a /tell. Lots of fun and ownage.
 
I beta tested it and played a good while during its arrival to the retail state.. The game would have been nice if they fixed the weapons balance and varied the objectives... Capturing buildings got boring really fast.
 
I jumped in with the Reserves program and I recently upgraded to a full account.

So yeah, I'm enjoying the game.

I'm with the Vanu on Markov, look for me as Alatar. I'm part of the outfit "The Lost Minions".
 
well the game is going to take me about 40 minutes to update as of now. It looks pretty awesome. Though you said the game is free.... Only for online play and its only a trial. I have to actually buy the game and put in the serial to play forever. Might be worth it though.

Well, it's free for a year. Good enough. And the game is ONLY online play.
