A continent lock gives 50% reduction in costs. It's going to make for some lopsided but fun play. One faction will dominate air, the other armor, and the last, cough, I mean NC, can just keep being NC.

Yah I know.

I was just playing for like 7 hours.

Undecided on the 50% boosts right now.

There are obviously some bugs but SOE will fix them eventually.

VS won first two alerts and first continent lock after Connery was playable.

I read elsewhere the code can be redeemed on multiple characters but I was only able to get it once

Edit: never mind. Got it to work on an alt, the code can be use on multiple chsracters

Thanks. It gave me an NS11 Platinum rifle (medic use only?). It probably won't do much for me since I don't play medic except to heal myself now and then.

Cool it gave me Golden Gun, whatever that is. I activated on the website using the "Enter activation code" choice under the account menu.

Been waiting for Hossin before I started playing this again - looks like they've made major changes throughout the last few patches (death screen, explosion sounds, etc.).

FPS seems to have tanked a bit though, causing major mouse lag. Might have to dial some settings down a tad.

I played for several hours yesterday and I think I racked up 500 cert points between the 2XP bonus and alert/region bonuses. It also helps that SOE seems to have made it easier for support players to earn certs with Resupply bonuses, Spawn bonuses, etc.

Meh, way too much 1-shot kill for the high BR's that make it feel pay2win now. Walked away from the game to play other stuff for several months, so that doesn't help any (not that I'm that good at FPS's anyway). But it feels ridiculous now, anything over BR60 always seems to hit inordinately hard.

That and I've seen stuff that makes it obvious that hacks are running freely in game (still).

You don't need to be the run and gun player. I suck at FPS gameplay myself. My infantry accuracy is something around 23%.

I spend most of my time playing on Hossin as an AMS (and ground battle) sunderer driver. For me, it feels so much more rewarding deploying the sundy that turned the tide of a battle. I also have my sundy spec'd pretty well now, and so I seem to get gunners all the time in it which definitely helps.

The other day I drove a sundy up some stairs and into a building near a capture point on a Hossin base. And that single deployed sundy managed to hold off an NC onslaught for well over an hour, maybe close to two. Even though we eventually lost (felt like NC threw their entire continent population at us), just seeing comments about how placing the sundy there was an awesome idea and how the battle was just of epic proportions (both sides complimenting each other) felt very rewarding.

Sundy driving and deployment is a blast. I agree - feels very rewarding. Equally rewarding is sneaking around, finding those sundys that are turning the tide of battle, and blowing them up!

Last night was my first time playing PS2 in over a month or two. Quite a bit of changes to the UI. Took some getting used to. One thing that is kind of annoying is all the constant tweaks they're making - makes it tough for the more casual gamer to re-learn what the best combos are, etc.

Anyone know what this nano-cycler does? I've experimented with it a little bit, doesn't seem to be too big a benefit.

This game just has so much in it, hard to keep track. But damn, it's fun, and the options are endless.

I agree there is a lot of that now. I'm BR35 and I have been one-shotted so many times by BR90+ players. But the funny thing is I still find the game fun, even with the imbalances and the armor/air zergs. The diversity of ways that you can play the game is what saves it, I think.

The "damage imbalance" (what I call it) aside, I guess I just had to get my groove back and realize what I was good at doing.

Went to one of my alt characters, which is a Vanu, and started roaming around the fights on Esamir. Turns out that I forgot I'm pretty damn good at sneaking around behind enemy lines and sniping the crap out of bad guys.

And then there was me driving around in a Skyguard and keeping the skies clear for about an hour or so from the swarm of TR mossies and libs while our ground forces repeatedly pushed back their would-be invasion attempts. Even the several times I was taken down into deep red, I still managed to slip out, repair up and get back into the fight.

Up close and personal though, yeah... you're either elite or you're under a boot.

I had been a big Lighting tank driver, but the increase in XP for spawning players encouraged me to try driving a Sunderer again. I have mine set up with an upgraded Kobalt machine gun on the front and a G30 Walker anti-aircraft machine gun on the back. I've been using it like a portable armored turret. I have a zoom on the Kobalt so I just park and take down enemy infantry with it, and with the G30 Walker I can shoot at flyers and vehicles too. I've also had some infantry kills with it.

I have done a lot of sundy hunting.

The nano-cycler is for turning your excess implants into potentially unowned or more powerful implants. You have to use 5 implants of a certain level to get the next highest level of implant although.

I hate this.

I am experienced at heavy weapons support but often get destroyed in seconds if I run into very close range firefights.

Now I have started to use the shotgun and am winning a lot more close range fighting.

Anyone else still get the occasional crash in this? On Windows 8.1, I do usually get the "planetside 2 . exe has stopped working" error a couple times per night...just me?

So Hossin is quickly becoming my favorite continent to play on. I like that it seems to limit aircraft spam, and the jungle setting makes it easier to ambush and take on vehicles.

One annoying thing though. Was defending a base on Hossin from an enemy outfit, and they had a Galaxy sitting way up high in the trees, and there was a continuous stream of people dropping out of the Galaxy every so often. So we would kill them, but it seemed like they just kept respawning above and would drop back down. We couldn't shoot the Galaxy down either as it just sat above one of the huge trees and couldn't be locked. Is there something in the Galaxy that allows squad respawning? Seems pretty unbalanced to me, it was like a Sundy without the risk.

Yes, new feature. Problem with galaxies and some other equipment is overpowered repairs and regen - you drive them off with heavy fire but then they just park, hop out and repair FAST. Sometimes regen is fast enough they don't even have to hop out.

Everyone likes to say ground to air is only a deterrent but frankly it's not deterring too much unless something is out of the fight for at least 90 seconds which is rarely the case.

So they did bring back Galaxy respawning? Used to be they acted like Sundies, but that was a bad design choice and they eventually learned and removed it, but now it appears to be back for squads? I don't get the logic...

Last time I played (a month or so ago), Gals quickly became a hated piece of equipment for another reason... they filled up the skies as bombers. Seriously. Didn't see nearly a single Libby in the sky, just a whole flock of Gals circling around and dropping raining death upon anything and everything that moved and not a damn thing could touch them.

I haven't done too much flying since I started playing again so I don't know the current situation, but I always felt that Liberators and Galaxies should fear the ESF, but in my experience they certainly did not. In fact you'd see Liberators happily engaging with ESF and coming out on top, which makes no sense to me. They were too nimble, and too strong.

I always felt Liberators and Galaxies should need an ESF escort to survive against enemy ESF. For the amazing things they can do against the ground it doesn't really make sense for them to be great against aircraft as well.

Also not liking the implant system at all. Seems the people who manage to kill me after I've already started shooting at them first all have the accuracy implant and these Auraxium weapons, though I'm not sure if those are just cosmetically enhanced or if they do have better stats.

I think it's squad only, so it's not actually Galaxy spawns in that sense - I think it's alright, but the game is mostly a deathmatch anyway.
