Planet of the Apes DVD 11.99

Jokersmoker,

I love your deals, and have personally benefited from several of them already, but if this is for the new version of the movie, it's no deal. The Marky Mark version blew big time.

Didn't Tim Burton shoot 5 different endings for the Marky Mark version? It would be interesting to see the alternative endings if they were on DVD, the one he chose for the theatrical release had to be the worst. Made no sense at all.

If this was the original Charleton Heston version, that would be a good buy. Other I will get my stinking paws off this.

<< I agree with chexi, this movie was painfull to watch. (had nice makeup though) >>

No it wasn't.

I scored on this at CompUSA doing a $10 price match w/ Frys in SoCal.
Thought the movie was ok, w/ good effects. Not as good as the originals though!

What is this preorder for "special edition"? If you check circuit city's coming soon list, it seems they are re-releasing dvds.. but in the exact same edition as before.. I'm not sure what's going on here. I'm pretty sure they are the same edition because I check dvdempire and bestbuy.com's coming soon list and they don't list these in their coming soon section. Could someone clarify this?

The movie stunk for several reasons. First, there was no character development with the antagonist ape. No building of the conflict, it was just kill kill kill right away. Very poor writing. Second, the ending was ridiculous. I like endings that make you think, but that ending only made me think "why oh why did I bother seeing this stupid movie". Finally, the original Planet of the Apes is one of the best movies of all time, despite its flaws, which makes this piece o' crap seem that much worse. My $.02.

Ok, I just found out my answer today. Apparantly, they're re-releasing this movie, Independence Day, and Castaway in single disc format. Well, I'm positive about Castaway as 1 disc but I'm just assuming the others are going to be released the same way.

😕
