The 'Shallow Seas' episode was fairly weak today but that slomo shark shot always gets me.
Look forward to some elephant hunting tomorrow. :)

the 8 gig ones are just insane, a 20in LCD monotor does not do them justice

the 720p ones look fing spectacular tho

yeah...Planet earth in 108i is sick....

it's amazing how great some of the shots are, let alone in HD...

Looks awesome in HD.

Discovery HD never seems to have the poor IQ associated with most HD channels on cable. ESPN being the biggest culprit.

There is no comparison. I enjoy watching sports in HD, I just can't stand useless commentators.

I saw planet earth last weekend. I have to say I was really dissapointed.

It has some great shots and all but it's super shallow and basic. You get like 30 seconds if that with any animal. Then it just cuts aways to the next one. Over and over and over. You get no real satisfaction or depth what so ever. I kept just getting into something and taking an interest and wanting more then they would cut away.

I actually ended up turning the channel and OPB was showing exactly the same first few creatures. Only the OPB show stayed on them and got very detailed. The OPB show was much more satisfying and educational.

Planet Earth just seems like another show for people with ADD who like to look at pretty pictures and want no real depth or to learn.

People can have their opinion, but I wouldn't take the few saying it is a picture show for ADD folks over everyone else saying how fantastic it is.

I am pre-ordering it on HD-DVD as soon as I find who has the lowest price, it doesn't play on tv around here that I have seen.

$69.95 at Amazon is the cheapest I've seen.

i agree, but it isn't exactly in depth. What is the OPB show you are talking about? do they have never before seen footage as well?
