Not something you see everyday but there is a good chance you would just get in the way and add to the confusion at or near the site...

Well, they're saying it's a huge debris field so there's not much they could do. I was thinking "huge plane, need help" kinda thing before the MSN article because details were not available.

:camera:'s!!

Seriously though, if emergency personnel are already there, you can go take a look or something, just make sure you dont get in the way.

Heard there were only two people on board(co-pilot and pilot) it appears it was a cargo plane.

It's not "uncomfortably" bad: I had just gotten in from a brisk 3 mile after-dark walk for leisure.

Edit: Oh yeah, you're local. Don't need to explain it to you ;)

Find out where it is first ;). I say go look. I'm a pilot and there is a small plane crash at my airport about once a month (it is one of the 30th busiest airports in the nation going off # of operations) and I always try to get a look at it. Good reminder to not F-up while flying.

Well, I'm near the #1 busiest airport in the world (Hartsfield-Jackson), but that wasn't the one :) Not many small prop-planes or private jets get to use Hartsfield ;)

See my airport is in the top 30 completely from small planes, mostly flight training, and when you have that many training operations you get a lot of accidents. There was a time (while I was training) that we had a crash on the first day of every month for like 7 months in a row (plus some in the middle of the months), most were minor, though.
