Maybe it's just a series of very rare occurrences. All happening immediately after an election. And immediately after a bunch of people got fired from relevant agencies. Probably a coincidence.
Sure. But the way he wants to just cut huge parts of the workforce is going to have far reaching consequences. And obviously he’ll deflect and deny these actions have anything to do with it.

To be fair:

From the article:

The Federal Aviation Administration called the airport an “uncontrolled field,” which does not have an operating air traffic control tower. Pilots often will use a Common Traffic Advisory Frequency to announce their position to other pilots who are in the airport vicinity. Pilots operating in uncontrolled fields are still required to comply with all federal aviation regulations.

I mean, how are airlines even going to survive? It’s been month and we’ve had like a dozen fuckups with many lives lost.

Trump's FAA. The gift that keeps on killing

Fuuuuuu...

The wife and I have a Mediterranean cruise vacation in May. Planned and paid for before the election.

Air Italia out and British Air back to LA. Stops include Italy, Greece, Turkey and Egypt

On the fence about canceling.

Good luck. I'm going on a cruise in June, but I can drive to the port in about 2 hours.

That private jet pilot acknowledged the hold then went anyway. He's fuxxed. If it wasn't daytime with clear weather that could have been bad news.

But I don't think we can blame this on cheeto. Just a soon to be former pilot.

Logically we shouldn't, but logically he shouldn't have won the election, and shouldn't be firing people because of "woke", so yeah, this is 100% his fault.

I was on a plane that aborted a landing into Logan a hundred feet off the ground due to another plane in the runway. The pilot was pissed, started complaining over the speaker about sloppy work from ATC. This was during Trump’s first term so still his fault.

Identical situation to this really but didn’t make the news.

Woah! ...Kudos to the Southwest pilot for that sweet "touch and go". mad skills. He never actually touched the runway, and it most likely would have been disaster if he had.

The pilot will probably be let go next week.

The problem here is obviously that we have too many air traffic controllers.

AI can’t replace humans for this!
Huh?

If an AI was given the command to hold... it would follow that command. Not maneuver a private jet in front of a landing Southwest Jet.
Alternatively... an AI controlled Southwest Jet may have seen the risk, but also noticed the private jet was far enough ahead to avoid contact.

The problem with flight control is humans killing humans, and AI will help solve that problem in many ways.
OTOH, Skynet.

Meh, AI would just make different kinds of mistakes.

The main problem, as has regularly been commented on, is finding yourself in that middle-ground, where you deskill the human pilots with automation, but the automation isn't quite perfect (cf the infamous Air France crash, when the autopilot cut out and the human crew got completely befuddled as to what they were supposed to do, because they'd had so little experience of actually flying entirely "by hand"). Which is very much the issue for self-driving cars - even more so as there's a lot more to crash into on the road vs the sky.
