Planar PX171M-SI LCD $311 (or $286) shipped @ Dell

I was able to get a Airborne tracking number form DELL-Chandler this morning. However when I tried to track the package, the status was not available. I called and talked to an Airborne representative. Apparently an air bill was generated last week, but the package is not actually shipped. Planar hasn't delivered the package to Airborne.

I hope they will... Fingers still crossed...
 
Yaaayyy!!!

Finally my LCD arrived today. They sent a black one instead of silver. Wife prefer the silver. So I'll give a call to Dell support about it We were willing to wait some more for the silver, but can't complain much at this point.
 
Got my today, almost missed it cause dell didn't send Planar my Apt number, the driver couldn't deliver it.
 
Anyone who recently got theirs want to share the date/time of their order?

I am waiting for mine and the site has not updated at all...

I ordered my on Nov 8th, it was shipped from planar on Dec 1st. I live in CA, hope this helps.
 
Mine came on Dec 8-totally unexpected because I didn't reallythink Dell or Planar could supply enough of these LCD's for the Anandtech and FW community. I had already got a 17" Envision from Staples on BF. So now all my computers have LCD screens.
 
did anybody who ordered on november 9th get their monitor? I still have not received mine. I checked the order status and i cannot seem to find it anywhere!
 
did you get an e-mail from dell and reply to it? i know they sent out a mass e-mail and said you had to reply by a certain date or else your order would get filtered out. some people had web mail services such as yahoo! or hotmail registered through dell, and the mail got automatically sent to their bulk/spam folders, so you may want to see if it went there. i know this occured because they sent me a e-mail and i promptly replied, hence the reason i am looking at the monitor right now as i type this.

yea, i did reply to it and they even gave me the option of selecting the mitsubishi monitor that costed a little more. my order disappeared from my order status today, and i've been checking it everyday since the email. should i ask for a substitution?

i emailed them at the beginning of december and they told me mine would ship on or before 1/24/04 🙁

so i still have a few weeks to wait before mine goes out... but it's comin'! 🙂

Oh man it sucks that you had to wait 2 months to get it 🙁 Id call Dell and see what they could do about the emotional distress all this waiting has done to you 😉

Seriously! i would call and ask if they can provide any service recoveries. this is the second time i've waited months for a product from dell (the first was the powershot s400).

 
Hey you never know. Just today I received a FREE Dell DJ 15gig compliments of Dell. About 3 weeks ago I filled out an email survey they sent me. I filled it out honestly and let them have it for all their price mistakes. The 4600 fiasco, and yadda yadda yadda. Well 2 weeks after I fill it out someone emailed me and asked what they could do to make me happy. I said Dell axim of dj. She shipped me a dj the next day. Booyaa!
 
I emailed the Customer Care department yesterday asking about the status of my order, and today I received an email requesting that I contact the Sales Department. I placed a quick call to the Sales department and was told that there was no way that they could send my monitor as they had none in stock and weren't expecting anymore of that model. They offered to send me the PLANAR PE171-BK 17-inch Black LCD Monitor for the same price, but since the model paled in comparison to the model they had originally sold me, I told them that it was unacceptable. I countered with a request for the DELL UltraSharp 1703FP 17-inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor with Height Adjustable Stand, which according to their web site retails for $529.00 and came the closest to the features of the Planar PX171M-SI. The Sales Rep, told me that since I had ordered a Planar, they could only substitute a Planar. I stuck to my guns, and eventually they caved. It took 30 minutes of arguing and waiting on hold, but they finally relented. I don't have an immediate need for a monitor, so I wasn't worried about them ultimately saying no. Hopefully this order fills.

holy shite. Got mine today. I'm actually jealous b/c it isn't mine 🙁 ordered it in Nov. for my sister's b-day on nov 14th, got here 2 months late. Now I really want one, I'm kicking myself for not ordering 2. I set it up on my linux box, got X to work very first time! It's crisp and very nice. I hope a deal like this comes around some time soon,doubtful of course. I'm looking for a 17" or a 19" w/dvi
 
Got it today. Like others, out-of-the-blue. I even spoke with Dell this AM and they told me it would ship on the 23rd. Oh well, a two month wait for a great LCD at a fantastic $.

Many thanks to all AT'ers who helped on this deal and who updated us along the way. Let's keep it up in 2004!
