Places to visit in Ireland???

I'm going to be spending the whole of September in Ireland and was wondering if anyone here might have been and could possibly recommend some good places to visit. We'll be staying in Dublin for a week, but then we planned to get a ticket which gives us access to all the buses around Ireland. So we were hoping to go west/south perhaps.

Any good suggestions or links? thanks

Spent two weeks there (wish it had been the whole Five i was over there).

Go see the Cliffs of Moher
I didn't get to go to Waterford, but hit that up if you get the chance, and the Dingle Bay (wild dolphins off the coast).
Don't forget to visit the GUinness factory in Dublin, and if you see Trinity College, that is where i stayed. The pubs you want to go to in Dublin will be on Temple Bar (thats the name of a street).
Check out Cork, and Galaway, lots of great things to see in those two cities...and make sure you stop in some of the little towns along the routes to get the feel of what Ireland is really like. The west coast is really beautiful (that is where the Cliffs of Moher and Galaway is).

Woo! keep the suggestions coming. The wife to be and I will be there next June/July for our Honeymoon.

Maybe we can hop a ferry over to England for a pint or two with you Snowy

I spent 3 years there.

It was not enough.

READ a book on Ireland - it is place of real history. There are many castles and cathedrals and museums you can get lost in.

The West side is awesome scenic beauty. Ride a horse and visit the Ring of Kerry. 40 shades of Green? BAH, that is a massive understatement.

It rains a LOT and it is very cool - dress accordingly.

In Dublin visit the Guiness Brewery, Phoenix Park. Go to Waterford to see crystal glass blowing by hand.

I suggest going to the library or local book store & checking out the Lonely Planet guide on Ireland......... also try to watch the Lonely Planet/Pilot Guides travel show series............ they had an excellent show on Ireland

my mom is from mallow in co cork.

cork is quite a nice city for two days. you could travel along the coast round to kerry, there are some really nice clear water beaches there.

dingle i s nice town with 3 hour fishing trips, scuba on wreacks, and the dingle dolphin who lives there, you can snorkel with the dolphin, its pretty cool.

limerick is cool you could visit the dell factory (joke), fish on the shannon, or go further north, and around achill island is nice.

you could go to galway race course near limerick as well.

i stayed in dublin a few weeks ago. I stayed at the castle hotel, nothing to write home about but I would recommend it if you are stuggling to finalise, its a victorian refurb, pretty clean and nice. if you like class then there is the westbury 4/5*.
for a cheap eat there is zaytoon, a iranian kebeb house that was packed, and did some nice standard and traditional iranian kebebs, its near temple bar Its on parliament street, or the one further up the hill from that anyway. there are some modern bars on st georges street as well. I saw some nice chicks there! Ryan air was cheapest for me from Birmingham.
