In the past, I built all of my PCs. Now I need to upgrade my old PC before it dies and I'm planning on going with Windows 7, but I don't have time to build it myself.

I don't want to go with a Dell or HP type shop. I want to buy from a place where I have a selection of parts and can have some choices. Here are a few I've found (though I haven't tried any of them yet):

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/

http://www.ibuypower.com/

http://www.uberclok.com/

Does anyone have any experiences with these? Can you recommend any others that you have heard good things about?

Thanks!

http://www.directron.com/

They use only use standard parts, no custom MB's or power supplies. Sometimes they do use some cases produced for them that are a little cheaper, but often you can select the case you want. AMD or Intel.

A few of my friends bought from ibuypower and have been totally happy. No problems at all.

do they also customize laptops?

"Custom" laptops have a lot fewer possibilities. Some allow changes to the screen resolution, but most just allow RAM/HDD/CPU/optical options. I think most places that do custom systems will do custom notebooks (if they have notebooks at all). Even the big manufacturers allow customization. Heck, even BFG (disclaimer: I work for them) sells "custom" notebooks. (linky) You can choose the RAM, CPU, graphics card (and even SLI), HDD (up to 3) and even which WLAN adapter. There are also other companies out there with similar options, but don't expect much more than that. Dell might be one of the few that allows different screens (same size, different resolutions).

cyberpower.com and ibuypower.com are probably some of the more well known shops (asides from the more expensive ones like Alienware or Falcon Northwest). While I cannot attest to their quality (never purchased a whole PC, only build my own), I imagine that they have had enough business where you can find review sites.

I'm sure you could google "cyberpower" and "customer reviews" and you'll find a site or two regarding their customer service, quality of build, etc.
