Anyone know of any places that pay fair prices for a nice sized DVD collection? I have around 500 originals.. all in excellent condition and want to unload them. I cringe at the thought of typing all of the titles in and selling them piecemeal.

wow, quite the collection. :)

you could use dvdprofiler, and you'd only have to type in the bar codes.

heh i recently sold over 200 ...

If you are looking for a quick way to get rid of them, try Blockbuster or other local businesses.

If you want to get most of your dollar back, start typing...

When I sold my DVDs here on AT, I required people to purchase at least 5 of them so it will worth a visit to the post office.

Good luck.

Yeah, it's a great collection.. but I just moved into a new house and have no place to "display" them. They just don't fit in anywhere. I'd like to use the money to do some stuff to the house.

If you don't type the names in you aren't going to get any serious $$$ for them because there are a bunch of crap dvd's out there that are worthless. I'm not saying that's what you have, but, that's the unknown.

Even if you do type all the names in, selling them as a large lot will still yield less than individually, but, will take a lot less time and energy.

I'd say ebay if a big lot, or FS/FT if you are going to do them in groups.

I'm looking for a total of around $5000. I am reconsidering my initial stance of not typing them in. They're 99.9% good DVDs.. not $5.99 bargain fare.

Any good cataloging software?

As someone else already said, DVD Profiler (http://www.dvdprofiler.com). Buy a hacked Cuecat barcode scanner off eBay (costs about $6 shipped) and 95% of them you won't have to type a thing.

I don't know about getting $5000 for all of them though. $10 apiece when you can average less than $8 apiece new from Columbia House.

When I buy dvd lots (I've bout a about a thousand this year for use in vacation rentals) I average about 5.50 each. If you want to do much better I'll suggest you'll need to sell them in much smaller lots.

Good luck,
Bill
