Several reviews sites could run Prescott on a P4P800, ASUS has validated the P4P800 for Prescott. The only possible conlcusion is that had (a) a bad P4P800 sample or (b) simply the reviewer did not know how to handle hardware.

And I about wet myself when I ran this Aida read test:
WOW!

Almost 1Gig overclock with AIR with the Prescott chip ! :D

Awesome Aida score!!!

If you take any bench requests..Id like to see some super pi benches (1M)...
I bench 1M=38seconds and 2M= 1min.28seconds....

H-OCP may not be the "foremost" OC'ing site, but in their testing, the ASUS was not the only mobo to show serious temp issues when OC'ing the Prescott. Those results were good enough for Overclockers.com (a "foremost" OC'ing site) to include in their Article, so cut THUGS (and me) a break.

I am still waiting for PJ to throw a thermal probe on the MOSFETs and caps.... And also, the final results that are Prime95 / 3D / stable for 24 hours... ;)

PJ, have you tried Memtest86+ v1.0 with the Prescott yet? I couldn't get the floppy or CD versions to work. I get a split second flash of the blue background with very little text before it reboots. The older Memtest86 v3.0 works but shows the L1 cache as unknown. I just want to see if anyone else with the same board and CPU gets the same results.

Stability testing will be next. THis chip may have some more room, but I am not to willing to go above 1.5vcore at this moment. And it will NOT be stable at 270, but I could run a bunch of benches at that.

That ridiculously high score for Prescott in Aida is obviously the result of cache contamination - it's not a *true* memory read result - think about, what's the max bandwidth for dual DDR? 6.4 GB/s - and that's at 100% efficiency, which is *impossible* - there is a lot of overhead.

pastorjay, can you make an apples-to-apples comparison of the Northwood at 3.8 to the Prescott at 3.8? That may take some research to find someone who has essentially the same setup as you & has the Northwood at 3.8GHz...

Fixed the black highlighting :). Putting the H in brackets screws with FuseTalk and causes that to happen.

The max bandwidth for the DDR depends on how it's clocked.. if PJ's running it 1:1, then its theoretical max is 270MHz * 2 (DDR) * 8 bytes (64 bit) * 2 (dual channel) = 8640 MB/sec, higher than what AIDA reported.

6.4GB/s is the theoretical max for dual DDR at a stock FSB of 200MHz.

Shim and PJ are cranking it out in 1 min, 23 sec. I think those two are going to meet at the OK Corral or something. :D
