I will be doing more tonight. I will do a 2-2-2-5 for ya. Plus, I will be trying to get her up a little higher. It better not just be "my" board. That would really stink! I would have to sell and get a different one. I won't keep this chip that long though. ;)

PJ, did your board come with the DPS module? If so, maybe you can try it just for the heck of it. It didn't make much difference with the ES chips but who knows with the mobile CPUs.

To answer some of your questions....
Im still on the IT7 as the 8INXP will not be here till next week.
The 8INXP IS capable of 200fsb as we have all see it there.
I have looked for info on the clockgen...reports have it only doing 200fsb max but i feel the board will use a clock multiplier or switch to a second crystal.
Try with only one stick of ram and see how far you get, also try the chip and ram in another board and see how they perform then.
my cpu has the heatspreader off a celly T 1.2 and i use shin etsu thermal compound by coolermaster.

I would also try stripping the board to the bare essentials and trying your overclock from there...if possible see if the clockgen is supported by setfsb etc and try your overclocking with this if easytune does not work.

I have noticed these chips respond to heat much quicker than normal P4's do..I put the side on my case and lost stability at 220fsb within 2 mins, where the rig had been 100% stable before on all tests, all i can think of is I now have poor airflow to the heatsink where before all was fine even though the board is cooler with the side pannel on.

The last thing brings me back to the PCI fix which i have found does not work on the IT7 and causes device failure if used above 190fsb with the agp card failing at 199fsb and higher. Can you try without the lock on...or try setting to 35pci and see how well that works as the GB boards are well know to have a problem at 33/66 and the agp.

A few answers for you and a few questions!! let me know how you get on!!

BT - I am gonna answer a few of these as I already have an answer for them:

My 8INXP has a fsb adjustment up to 355. The manual states 200, but even one review I read (OCWorkbench I think) had mentioned this.
I have already tried with one stick, as well as different ram that is known to be good. My Alpha is making good contact on the core, my temps are decent. I do have a shim being made for me, just in case I need it. I have the pci raised to 34, but I will up it to 35 and see what happens. By the way, I signed up on ICQ just to talk to you! Hoping your 8INXP comes soon. I need another Granite Bay user to get on the p4m train.

Ok, check this out. I did not notice it until now. No matter what you set it at, the cpu registers no faster than 1949.x - very interesting.

so when overclocked the cpu hits 1949mhz and doesn't register any higher with wcpuid no matter if you bump up the fsb a couple of notches??

Oh, sorry.

I have found some very interesting things which might be why I am unable to go any further on this board. Bios screen shows the ram at the correct speed for fsb, but, the cpu will not do more than 1949.x. Bios screen also shows the cpu to be a xeon!!! Wierd or what. Does anyone know how these xeaons work? are they limited in the fsb? HELP!!!

I think someone might have to wait for a BIOS update from Gigabyte. Email them about the problem.

Sorry pj I have been playing with my board...it seems my IT7 has no workable pci lock at all...im going to try reflashing back to an older bios but this is very weird.

Anyway im online for a while try me now..if not leave me an off line message so i get your icq number.

Regards the xeon i have no idea!! the IT7 see's it as a mobile cpu as does the P4B533 so it looks like a gigabyte bug...i hope not!!

Ok, since I have been limited to the fsb of 175 for mem, I will back track and put some scores up at differing speeds. Here we go!!!
