The new OCZ is good stuff. Not only that... their customer service has improved greatly! I had a couple of bad(or at least dud) sticks of 3500 ram and they replaced it with 3700! Great company these days. They deserve a second chance, I think.

These Intel overclocking threads are great reading. Too bad overclocking AMD systems is so stale. :(

PJ:

Good luck. Working on putting together a system for my son. Using a ABIT IT7-MAX (orginal version) with Kingston PC3500 and 1.6A. Using Alpha 8942, the idle temp is 40 and full load at 48 with Vcore 1.575 and FSB 150 (running at 2.4G). I have reapplied AS-III twice and the temps are NOT budging. The same chip on a Aopen Ax4R+ was idling ar 32 and full load of 45. I am stumped.

Your temp seems fine. As long as you're stable. Different motherboards measure the temps differently so no two motherboard will give you the same results and can vary quite a bit sometimes. You have to compare your results with others using the same exact mobo.

Nice OC PJ! Makes me wanna upgrade to a 2.4b c1 chip.

Temp is not bad. But it is about 4*c higher than my old 2.4b. My cpu temp is usually about 10*c higher than the system temp in Winbond. This one is 14*c higher, and the temp rises real fast in Prime. I just want to reapply ASIII for my own clear mind.

Whooa... nice work, PJ!! :) OCZ, huh... You're a brave man... ;)

I think there's gotta be something wrong with these combo.... My chip is idling at 46C & goes all the way upto 56C under full load in Prime!! :Q:Q I'm thinking it might be the board, since it reports the system temp as ~48C when my chip is idling at 45~46C... I'm going to swap out AquariusII with Alpha, and see how that goes..

maxSe,

Please post your results when you switch to the Alpha. OCZ was a gamble, but I have also lost confidence in the new corsair stuff. OCZ customer service was awesome though. I had 3500ddr that have me some issues, so they shipped me their new 3700 stuff. Pretty nice so far. I think the board reads the chip temp a little high. Maybe not though. But I am comfortable with the 56*c at full load under prime for now. More benches tonight when I get home.

:) LOL... Prior to selling you that Alpha MAXSE, I just did the same comparison... the AquariusII, was significantly better for me. One change I did make was swapping out the stock AquariusII cpu block for the Koolance CPU-200g. This lowered my temps by about 5C, not to mention the mounting is much better than the AquariusII.
