I prefer the pizza I make from scratch to anything bought, but if I had to go with a favorite, it'd be Pizza Hut (meat lovers' stuffed crust). Dominos is the worst.

Anybody got a good pizza crust recipe? All this talk of pizza makes me wanna make one from scratch

Dunno if it's "good", I like it though. Flour and dry yeast in a roughly 3cup:2tsp ratio, change amounts according to how much dough you want. 4 cups is generally enough for a decent size pizza and a bit of bread on the side with the leftover. Put the flour in a pile on a countertop, make a crater in the middle & put in the yeast, sprinkle a bit of salt everywhere. Throw in a tsp or so of crisco, margarine, or butter. Start adding lukewarm water a bit at a time and mixing in the flour. It will be messy, you'll eventually be able to work it into a ball, you want it dry enough so that it's not sticky. Knead it well, put it in a bowl (use nonstick spray or coat it with olive oil first), cover it and set it aside for about a half hour, then you're ready to roll it to desired thickness & line a pan with it. Much easier than canning your own tomato sauce, though that's worth it too, imo 🙂

When you make the pizza, in addition to the obvious (sauce & cheese), don't forget minced fresh garlic, grated parmesan or romano cheese, and olive oil. I like black pepper and oregano too, but they're optional.

pepperoni with basil, mushrooms and sliced tomatoes at frank and angie's in austin

there's a chain called "Mountain Mike's" in california that
has great pizza. all meat with garlic sauce - OMG.

When I lived in Maine each town had its own "House of Pizza" ie: Portland House of Pizza or Falmouth House of Pizza. Hands down the best pizza I ever had. But since I live in Texas(now and most of my life) and Im a poor college student $5.99 Lg Pepperoni pizza's from Little Ceasers gets the job done

Since real pizza doesn't exist in my town, I'm going to go with Pappa Johns. The best pizza that I ever had was in Stone Ridge, NY.

albino chicken pizza from rossi's (closed down a couple years back 🙁)
pizza from a mom & pop joint.
costco pizza! (only $10.78 for a large pizza!)

Most of the pizza around here sucks, it's all chain places. There was a place by where I used to work in San Jose that was great though, Pizza California (not to be confused with California Pizza Kitchen). I used to go at least once a week for their slice, salad and drink deal.

If I'm eating from a chain, it's usually Round Table.

More meat the better IMHO 😛

Papa murphys has some good ones for quite a cheap price since you cook em yourself.

But deep dish ones pwn all others.

And I mean deep thick crust, none of this crappy thin cardboard stuff 😀

I just got back from Chicago, and the best we found was Pequod's Pizza. Giordano's was OK, but it had way too much cheese, and not enough toppings. Pizzaria Uno was good also. As for local pizza, Flying Pie in Portland, but the best west coast pizza I've had is at The Northlake Tavern & Pizza House in Seattle.

Cottage Inn Pizza, Chicken Mediterranian (grilled chicken, pepperocini, feta cheese, spices, and uhm, some other stuff).

My kind of thread.

The best pizza I've ever had was Godfather's here in TN, back in the early 80's (I used to play Donkey Kong in there every time). Too bad it shut down after a few short years. In the last couple years I've seen Godfather's in gas stations, but they're sh1tty and 100% different...a disgrace to the name.

My favorite pizza I can still get today is at Smoky Mountain Brewery in Gatlinburg, TN. They have my favorite microbrews too. Yummm. If you're in Gatlinburg, DO NOT miss this place.
Second would be at the original Pizzeria Uno's in Chicago. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try any other pizza joints when I was there a couple days. Damn parking $.
Third would be Bosco's in Nashville (also with my 2nd favorite microbrews).

Honorable mention to Obies on Eliston Place in Nash., and Guido's on 21st Ave in Nash.

I always liked Pizza Inn but our local PI just closed down a couple months ago, after a long history.

Pizza Hut sucks now. It used to be a lot better years ago. I also hate trying to deal with the idiot kids working the phones at our Pizza Hut and Papa Johns. And yes, PH is way too salty. One slice of some of theirs has more salt than you should have in one day.

I've been wanting to try the Mellow Mushroom in nearby Nashville.

That's exactly why it's so good 😉
I think it makes it taste like sh1t. 🙂 I can't even taste anything else but salt. People put salt on food to hide the taste. I hate having to drink a 1/2 gallon of water afterwards too.

In Ohio I liked this small place that was close to my house called Carmino's. I prefer Papa John's now.

Haven't had pizza elsewhere, but the best pizza in GA is Ingleside Village Pizza. Nice thick, chewy, crust, not too saucy, lots of toppings, mmmm. Kinda feel sorry for the folks in Atlanta (though there are some good places up there, if not as good).
