Was curious what sentence he got for pizza gate. He only got 4 years. But it’s stupid Canadians wanting to become the 51st. Not sure that 4 years is too little (as your "only" seems to imply). He didn't actually shoot anybody, no? Just scared people, fired shots in a dangerous manner and damaged property. But most of all (from my entirely-inexpert reading of media reports) he seemed a bit of a nut, and don't understand how he came to have a gun again after that. Or why he wasn't subject to some sort of psychiatric treatment.

Don't really know what the appropriate sentence would have been. How do you address mental illness in a context where the entire society is unwell?

As the officer opened the car door, Welch pulled a handgun from his jacket and pointed it at him, police said.

According to the news release, the officer and a second officer who was standing at the rear side of the car ordered Welch to drop the weapon. However, after Welch “failed to comply with their repeated requests, both officers fired their duty weapon at the passenger, striking him”.

Does that seem credible? No fucking way. Unless there's bodycam or witnesses we'll never know.
