So, I decided that I was hungry and I wanted some pizza. I call up Papa John's to see how much a pizza is. A girl answers, and I ask her. She asks me for my name and address, and eventually tells me that they don't deliver to my address. I decide to go to the Papa John's website, thinking I may have called the wrong Papa John's location. I make a new account, with my address, and then I am told they really don't deliver to my address (this was kind of weird, you would think they covered most major suburban areas).

I look in the phone book in the Pizza section. I remember that I had ordered from a pizzeria called Presto Pizza before, but I can't find it. Instead, I find a pizzeria named Pizzeria Presto. I call them up and ask them how much a pizza is:

Me: Hello.
Pizzeria: Hello, thanks for calling Pizzeria Presto.
Me: What kind of pizzas do you have?
Pizzeria: We have all kinds.
Me: Ok, how much is a pizza with pepperoni, extra cheese, and mushrooms?
Pizzeria: What size? We have Medium, Large, and Extra Large.
Me: Large.
Pizzeria: $21.95
Me: Nevermind...

Does $21.95 seem a lot for a pizza to anyone else? Since it was delivery, I would have probably had to tip about $4 too, so that total ended up being around $25. With $25, I can go and eat pretty well at a real restaurant... I expected it would be less, since it was their "middle size" pizza, with only 3 basic toppings...

So, how much is pizza in your area?

I guess it's a student deal or something, but here, I can get two large (pepperoni is what I always get, so I assume it's just a one-topping pizza) pizzas for $13.90

mmmm.... pizza....

Here in Canada, you can usually get two pizzas for under $22 from just about
anyone except for Dominoes (and that's Canadian $).

SoulFlare, where do you live? Here in B.C. I can buy 2 large pizzas from dominos for like $18. Pizza Hut is the real rip-off, they charge $14 for one medium pizza with some instant topping crap they put on the pizza. Whenever I tried pizza from Pizza Hut the topping layer ALWAYS falls off, underneath is raw peperoni.

Dominos = Best (At least my local Dominos)

What-a-lot-a-pizza has large pizza for $4.99. IMO, it's much better than anything from Papa John's or Pizza Hut.

Here in Australia, Pizza Hut honour Competitors coupons so I can get 2 large Pizzas for $12 AUD which works out to be $6 USD.

I've never been to the Pizza Hut by Whole Foods. The $5 dinner at Marina Foods is pretty good though :)

Yeah, it's a bit much...

but there are two kinds of pizza joints in this world,
garbage pizza like Papa John's, Pizza Hut, and Domino's...
or some serious gourmet pizza that costs more $$. Places with things like pesto and artichoke hearts on their pizza.

You just called the wrong place, man.

Yeah. It's about 1/3 more than I usually pay. But if it feeds 1/3 more (leftovers) and a REALLY good pizza it might be worth it on the occasion you have some extra $$.

If the place has been around for a long time, it may be worth it.

But generally speaking, that's a lot of $$ for a normal pizza.

$12-$16 for a good size pizza here.
