Saturday night I placed an order online for the Tuscany Lasagna. I figure if it was good enough to fool Italians in Italy it has to be good. So I go to pick up my order. I waited and waited before I finally had to go into the back and find some help. Almost 10 minutes had passed and during that time people who worked there saw me, but no one came to help. The restaurant was nearly empty.
The lady who I found wasnt apologetic, didnt greet me or anything. She just had this look on her face like, "I have to help you?!" She was about 16 and on the short and chubby side. All she did was ask for my name so she could look up my order. She then told me the price. Thats when I told her I had to wait and noone came to help. So I asked her if I could have a drink since it took them so long to help me. She asked what I wanted and then went and got the drink, handed it to me with my food and change and just stammered off.
The lid on the drink wasnt tight, so I opened it when I got in the car. I was going to check everything anyway because with her attitude and the whole situation as it was I knew to "check things". Sure enough she had spit in the cup. It was very obvious. Nasty! I didnt drink any of it, and I still have the cup with her spit in it. This is disgusting to say the least. Nothing appreared to be on the food and I did eat it, but the thought of having her spit in a cup that I was supposed to drink made me uneasy as we ate the food.
I complained to corporate and havent heard back. She is lucky I didnt call the police. I tried to contact our local health department, but being the bumbling bureaucrats they are, they didnt answer the phone and didnt return the message I left them today. :|
03/31/09 edit: Got a call back from the health department and they gave me a local number to file a complaint with the Consumer Health division. When I did file it she asked me if I saw her do it. While I did not see her do it (which is stupid, they wouldnt do it in front of you), she did ask a valid question. So I guess its going to be up to management in the end. Im tempted to call our local FOX station. They have a reporter that covers gripes and they love stuff like this, but Ill wait and see what happens next. In the meantime that cup of spit drink is brewing in the back porch. :disgust:
04/02/09 Finally got a call from corporate / area manager. He called the store manager and he said that he was assured that "none of his girls" would do something like that. I said, "Well they can deny it all they want. You have the video evidence of my visit and I have the DNA evidence of the event. It will match the DNA of the girl who I would gladly point out to you. I dont know how far they want to take it, but trust me, this did happen." He was very apologetic, will mail me some coupons for free food and promised to find out what happened and make personel changes or other changes to fix what needs to be fixed at that store.
