Pizza (as we know it) was invented in NYC....I remember watching something on A&E or Food network about it.
Original pizza used big hunks of sliced cheese....not shredded.
yes pizza arrived to America via NYC... fobby italians and GIs who fought the war brought the idea over.
now there are a few forms of 'nyc' pizza.
wood brick oven, charcoal brick oven...
the now trendy-but-i-think-fake brick oven-but gas flame!
then the run of the mill NYCPizza with metal ovens using gas...
and mexicans seem to have a better handle over learning pizza making than those coupla of muslim pizzerias...
they cut corners by lowering the oven temp, less cheese, overstretching dough... sigh.... all characteristics of being cheap... don't cheap your product, duh.
