Jesus! That's awful!

What about deep fried pizza? That's a pretty bad food crime as well!

That looks gross. That being said, when I had a food truck we had a nice commercial grade 40# deep fryer. And when it was freezing out and super super slow, we'd eventually start deep frying anything we had in stock just cause. Turns out our grilled chicken and pork souvlaki tasted pretty darn good when deep fried. So there are plusses to it.

I'm not a massive fan of deep fried stuff generally. Some things work really well others I find way too stodgy. Doughnuts being the prime example I guess. Everyone seems to love them, to me it's just a greasy ball of stodge dipped in sugar.

In the UK you can't even get a decent sandwich, it's no surprise that you can't get a good donut. If you had ever had one that was cooked properly you'd never say they were greasy.

Yes I would. It's literally dough dipped in hot grease.

And if you think that means the food retains the grease no matter what you're a victim of your countries miserable excuse for cuisine. You can most definitely deep fry things without them tasting or being greasy. It just takes a cook with a degree of skill and a palate capable of knowing what its tasting.

I'm not saying that it will come out saturated with grease but there's bound to be a certain amount of oil on the surface.

If Trump doesn't redirect at least one carrier group to deal with this then I say he's not a real New Yorker and I want to see the long form birth certificate.

I'm in Asia right now. I see a Chicago style pizza place, so of course I must try it. Most of the toppings are sea food, but they do have salami. Everything looks okay, until I try a bite and realize they dusted it with POWDERED SUGAR!

Exactly! I thought that white powder was a really finely ground parmesan cheese until I started eating it. It cost $20 for that 8" pizza.

The other day I had a slushie. I noticed that they mixed in a bunch of Pop Rocks into it. As strange as that sounds, that combo was actually pretty good. I'm surprised we didn't think of it in the US.

If you really want something disappointing, try Italian Pizza. Start with a rectangular pizza dough, cut one tomato in half, place one half in each hand. Smash both halves onto the dough, and spread the juice around, then leave the remainder of the tomato on the pizza. Generously spread out slices of eggplant, drop 15-20 shreds of Mozzarella, evenly spaced, bake, sell.

in Italy they don't do pizza like that. They always use tomato sauce as a base. Also the toppings go above the mozzarella.

I worked in a bakery many, years back, with an old German guy named Tony Braun. His nickname was "Brownie"

Brownie disliked it when people would interchangeably use the term grease for butter, margarine, oil.

He used to say, (in his thick German accent):
"Grease is for axles."

He was hilarious. I miss the old guy when I think about his brownieisms. He had many of them.
