Pixote

Has anyone else ever watched the film Pixote? I sure most haven't because it is a difficult film to get and very dark. It is similar to City of God in some ways.

I remember seeing this at the pub when I was just starting my graduate studies, circa 1981 or 1982. Very sobering film (so is Kids). The kid who plays the lead role got killed by police.

Yep he did get killed by police and there is a film about that as well. Haven't seen it myself though yet.

Finally got around to seeing this movie. It's a pretty damn good film but I must warn any potential viewers there are some pretty raw scenes. I'm talking rape, pedophilia, graphic depictions of child nudity, etc. Not for the weak of stomach or easily depressed. A hell of a ride if you can cope with it though.

Cidade de Deus was a better film to me.
